AllCouncil meetings are held at City Hall, 221 E. Main St., on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., unless indicated otherwise. Council meetings can be viewed live on Spectrum cable channel 10, Uverse channel 99 and
roundrocktexas.gov/tv. Council agendas are posted online and on the bulletin boards at City Hall 72 hours prior to meetings as required by law. Below are upcoming meetings for City Council. For upcoming meetings for other Boards and Commissions, visit our City Meetings Calendar.
All Council Members are elected at large and serve the entire City, not a geographic precinct, for a three-year term. The Mayor Pro-Tem is appointed annually by Council Members. City Council positions are not full-time jobs.
The Code of Ordinances is updated on a monthly basis. In addition all new ordinances are posted in PDF format on our Municode site the week after a City Council meeting and remain there until the Code is updated.
Round Rock City Council meetings are available for live streaming or viewing online after the meeting at Round Rock Replay. Agendas are posted at Round Rock Replay at least 72 hours prior to the Council Meeting.
Slippery Rock University will celebrate the Class of 2024 with a ceremony on Saturday, December 14 at 11 a.m. in Morrow Field House. As additional details become available, they will be posted on this page.
All SRU students who plan on completing their degree requirements in either the fall or winter semesters are eligible to apply to graduate. Graduation is not an automatic process. You must apply for graduation.
Note: Students applying prior to the "Deadline to Apply" date will be able to walk, receive a to-be-determined number of guest tickets, and have their names appear in the commencement program. Students applying after this date will need to complete the paper application.
Students applying after October 1 for SRU's fall 2024 ceremonies must complete a Graduation and Diploma/Certification Application to apply for graduation. For additional information, contact Academic Records at
724.738.2010 or
academic...@sru.edu.
Eligible graduates can request up to four (4) tickets to the ceremony. All tickets are complimentary but must be requested. After the deadline to apply had passed, an email will be sent from
commencem...@sru.edu to all eligible graduates with information on how to request their tickets. Once requested, tickets will be emailed to you from noreply@audienceview. The email will be sent immediately. If the email does not appear in your SRU inbox, please check your spam folder. Please read the email sent with your tickets as it contains important commencement information.
SRU uses digital programs. The program will be available on
www.sru.edu prior to the ceremony. Additionally, there will be signs with QR codes at the ceremony. We urge you to download the program prior to the ceremony. A program for the ceremony will be available at Morrow Field House.
General information:
With the exception of the graduate, all guests must have a ticket. This includes babies or infants who will be held by an adult. Guests can either present their mobile device with the ticket QR code or print their electronic ticket prior to arrival for use at the ceremony. No printed tickets will be distributed by the Commencement Office.
Non-ticketed guests are welcome to view a livestream in the Russell Wright Alumni House. Guests off campus, can watch the ceremonies via a link that will be posted one hour prior to each ceremony on the SRU homepage.
Accessible seating will be available on the ground floor of Morrow Field House. Guests needing access to that seating area should enter MFH on the lower level. Seating in this section is limited to the individual requiring seating and one guest.
There are a limited number of accessible parking spaces near MFH on a first-come, first-served basis. Shuttle service from various campus parking lots to MFH will be available. Please inform the shuttle driver you need taken to the lower level of MFH.
Honors designations of cum laude, magna cum and summa cum laude will not be placed on your transcript until your final semester grades are received and a final GPA is computed. A minimum of 45 undergraduate credits must be completed at SRU (excluding credit by exam). GPAs used for determining academic honors are computed at the end of the semester preceding your last semester of enrollment.
Summer graduates can opt to participate in either the spring ceremony prior to the summer they complete their degree requirements or the fall commencement following their graduation. Summer graduates are automatically included on the list of students eligible to participate in the spring ceremony. If you opt to walk in fall commencement, you will need to complete a "Summer/Winter Graduation Applicant Intent to Participate" form.
Winter graduates can opt to participate in either the fall ceremony prior to the winter they complete their degree requirements or the spring ceremony following their graduation. Students scheduled to graduate in the winter are automatically included on the list of students eligible to participate in the fall ceremony. If you opt to walk in the spring ceremony, you will need to complete a "Summer/Winter Graduation Applicant Intent to Participate" form.
When I apply for graduation, why is there only one date to choose from?
The graduation date is the date shown on your diploma and transcripts. This date is the same for all students graduating at the conclusion of a particular semester. Graduation dates for most students will be in May and December. Students graduating in either the winter or summer will have different dates. Please be aware that your graduation date may not be the same date as the commencement ceremony that you attend. Commencement is when you receive your diploma cover from the president.
When will my degree be awarded?
Your degree will appear on your official transcript, which is proof of degree completion, once a final review is completed following the posting and processing of final grades at the end of the semester. With the volume of final reviews required to approve degrees, this may take a few weeks.
If you need a transcript or graduation verification confirming your degree, please complete the appropriate form. If requesting a transcript, you may submit your transcript request prior to the end of the term and check the box to have your transcript mailed after degree is confirmed. A hold on your account with the University will prevent your transcript being mailed until the issue has been resolved.
When will I receive my degree?
Digital Diplomas will be emailed to your SRU email by Parchment 2 to 3 weeks after your degree is awarded, and the hard copy will be mailed six to eight weeks after your degree is awarded. A hold on your account with the Universit will prevent you diploma from being mailed until the issues is resolved and you notify Academic Records.
When should I apply to graduate?
All SRU students (undergraduate, graduate and degree seeking post-baccalaureate) must apply to graduate. Graduation is not automatic. Students should apply to graduate at least one term prior to their anticipated graduation date.
Will I receive confirmation that my application was submitted?
Yes, you will receive an automated confirmation as soon as you have submitted the application. This confirmation email is only to let you know that your graduation application has been submitted. This email is not confirmation that you will graduate.
Is there a way to check my graduation application?
Yes, you may view your application for graduation any time at MySRU > Academics tab > Graduation channel > Confirm Application to Graduate.
What if I miss the online deadline to apply to graduate?
If you missed the established deadline for the online graduation application for a given term, you must complete a paper graduation application, which can be found on the Academic Records Forms page. The paper graduation application needs to be completed and can be scanned and emailed to
academic...@sru.edu. If you missed the online graduation application deadline, we are unable to guarantee your name will appear in the commencement program or guest tickets will be available. You will still be eligible to walk in the graduation ceremony.
3. Remember to update your email address with a non-SRU email as your access to MySRU and SRU email address will terminate 90 days after graduation. Unfortunately, when you make a change to your address in your MySRU after you have submitted a graduation application, your diploma mailing address will not update. If you have moved or plan to move since applying for graduation, please contact Academic Records at
724.738.2010 or
academic...@sru.edu to provide the office with your new diploma mailing address.
What if I have a hold on my account with the University?
A hold (past due tuition balance, unpaid parking tickets, unpaid library fines, etc.) with the University will not keep you from graduating, however, the hold will keep you from receiving any official documentation from SRU. This would include your official transcripts and diploma. To resolve any outstanding issues, please contact the respective office to discuss.
Graduate students: Any unmet requirements showing on the degree audit will need to be resolved before your degree can be awarded. If your degree audit shows that the unmet requirement(s) is some type of non-course requirement (ex., comprehensive exam), please see your graduate program coordinator. Some departments choose to make the final approval of the completion of the graduate program and these non-course requirements can only be checked off after successful completion of the item at the end of the term.
