Hi Genie:
It seems Sammy hasn't been to active on these sites. I see were Google is changing group procedures. I really haven't been following things that much. Last I heard from Sammy he was going through some tough times. I guess with cancer (any type) It lurks in the back ground just to bite your butt every once in a while to keep your attention. I was Diagnosed 11 years ago and I can honestly say I have considered my situation EVERY day. It is always on my mind. The same goes for my wife's breast cancer - it is always on my mind. I think once a family member is diagnosed with cancer, the subject is permanently imprinted into your brain as an endless companion.
When Sammy wrote "Prostate cancer is an exceptionally heterogenous disease. What is good for one man may not be so kind on the next. Be sure to research and test any new supplement or treatment before adopting it - and in any case run it past a medically qualified person for a second opinion." I think he was just giving some good advice. Sammy has always been one for details, not settling with abstracts which are basically someone's interpretation of the trial or experimental data. Sammy would rather see the complete original data. He is also smart enough to ferret out the deeper importance of the data. What he is saying (I think) Don't trust heresy data and run it past the experts before you make your decision, no source of information is off limits.
This reminds me of a joke I heard in high school. """" I man owned a business and when his son turned 10 he thought he would introduce him to the business world. So he had his son go into the stock room to get something off the very top shelf. After he had handed the item down to his father, he was having a problem getting down. His father told him to jump and that he would catch him. His son asked " are you sure ?" His father says I'm sure. The kid jumps his father steps back and the boy hit the floor very hard. The son said "you said you would catch me - why didn't you. The father replied "Son the first rule of business NEVER TRUST ANYONE !!!"
As we cancer survivors plot our way through this mine field we have to do our own search and research. The truth is very few do... they put their complete faith in the medical industry.
Take care
Henry

Hi. I read and re-read Sammy's email. Does that really sound like Sam?? You know him better than I do. I didn't think he'd refer to a medical qualified person as making sure to run it by them. He experimented a lot. What do you think.
