I have a concern and question about our compost: people have been
bringing grass clippings and non-edible garden waste like shrub
branches. How do we know if these things have been treated with
pesticides or other lawn chemicals? Also, Gorilla Coffee has offered
us coffee bean chaff and coffee grounds; how do we know if these (as
well as coffee grounds from our own households) are chemical-free?

I have another concern. Yesterday when adding some of the collected
leafy matter, I noticed large seed pods from one of the trees; I don't
think it's a great idea to be "planting" trees in our compost. I've
done this inadvertently in my own garden by using leaves bagged by
neighbors and I'm constantly weeding out tree saplings even three
years after getting these bags of leaves. Is there anything we can do
to be more careful about all non-table scraps we put in our compost?

Hello Fellow Composters!

I have posted the compost drop-off times and monitors through July
2010.

We'll post this as a PAGE on the Google Groups, so it will be easy for
everyone to see.

Please see the COMPOST DROP OFF SCHEDULE: JUNE, JULY 2010 page for
details.

Note: NO compost collecting on July 4th.

Thanks everyone! Your veggie scraps are helping us make good dirt!

See you at the farm.

Cheers,
Monique
