I promised some updates after our Dec. 2 meeting:

1. A representative from PHNA contacted the police to report that a number of people have had cars rifled through. The police will try to run extra patrols on main streets as well as side streets. Please contact the police if you have problems. That way they have a record.

2. At the new Hopewell neighborhood, the fence is down, and the current phase of construction is nearly done. There will be three temporary pickleball courts in the spring, in addition to ping pong tables (bring your own paddle and ball), swings, and other amenities. Please use and enjoy the park as the weather allows.

3. Parks Dept has awarded a contract for phase 1 improvements in Building Trades Park. There will be a new wider sidewalk near the tennis courts, but it will be further away from the courts. The old large shelter will be torn down, as will the old wooden boardwalk on the far east side of the park. These project should be done by late summer. A representative from PHNA contacted Parks to confirm that very few trees will be affected by the construction.

4.  The Beacon Advisory Committee met Dec. 4 and will meet again in February. There were a number of city officials there, including Police Chief Diekoff and Tim Street, Director of the Parks Department. Parks also manages the cemetery, and Tim made it clear that the Parks Board is concerned that the cemetery and the neighborhood parks will continue to be well cared for, even as more people move into the neighborhood. Current plans are for a spring groundbreaking. Construction will take most of 2025 and 2026. Fundraising is ongoing.

5. Lastly, we have a request from a couple neighbors who would like to hire someone local to shovel their walks if/when we have snow or other bad weather.  If you would be willing to help, please email prospect.hill...@gmail.com with your contact information. Thanks.

Lastly, the PHNA officers wish you Happy Holidays.
