Isuccessfully changed my password 3 weeks ago. I still cannot get into my hotmail because upon entering my password, it wants to send a security code to my OLD phone number. There's no option to change the destination of the code. In my account details, it shows my NEW phone number. I've tried numerous ways to contact outlook support to no avail.
800-642-7676 recorded voice gives me the address of "support website," which tells me to log into my hotmail account for help! Duh. Another number,
843-894-7676 reached a guy who said "wrong number" and hung up.
Remember to keep your account recovery information up to date to prevent such issues in the future. Microsoft takes account security seriously, so the recovery process may take some time, but they should be able to help you regain access to your account.
I am unable to log in to my Authenticator app since I changed my phone. My last one broke, and I was unable to back everything up and transfer to my new phone. Now when I log into my Authenticator app, I'll go through the recovery process and when it asks me to confirm my identity, it's asking for an Authenticator code, which I am already IN Authenticator itself, therefore there's no way for me to get a code to unlock it. Hope that makes sense. I desperately need access to it, as it contains my 2FA codes for access to several accounts I have and use often, including my outlook email. I've submitted several recovery request forms to no avail because Microsoft ignores them when you have 2FA on your accounts.
Now I just realize that all Microsoft stores were closed - missed the headline on that one - so I can't speak to someone to help me. How can I get access to my Authenticator app without an Authenticator code, OR speak to someone at Microsoft who can help?
I am also locked. I cannot remember even choosing a passwork, let alone knowing what it is. I need authenticator to access medical records, so pretty desparate. I seemed to be able to do a one-off workaround by deleteing and re-installing the App. Immediately after getting the access I needed, I was locked out again and received the "authenticator locked" message. No "help" or "Forgotten your password" link.
You can recover your account credentials from your cloud account, but you must first make sure that the account you're recovering doesn't exist in the Microsoft Authenticator app. For example, if you're recovering your personal Microsoft account, you must make sure you don't have a personal Microsoft account already set up in the authenticator app. This check is important so we can be sure we're not overwriting or erasing an existing account by mistake.

I'm still not sure how to access the backup. I've gone to settings and turned on iCloud backup, but then a window pops up saying that I already have a backup on another device (my old phone). My options were to either 'Replace backup" or cancel. I just (accidentally) replaced the backup. How should I proceed?
to try to regain access to your account, you can try to use the Recovery Form:
Microsoft provides a recovery form that you can fill out to verify your identity and regain access to your account. Here is how to use it:
@LeonPavesic Thank you so much for giving the tips. I did try to fill out the form it gave me error message (The Microsoft account you've entered does not exist.). seems like they permanently deleted that account, I don't know how they can do that. I have that email last 35 years and has all my all info, history data. Thanks again for you time for replying to this message.
Unfortunately, if you no longer have access to your recovery email accounts of phone numbers your account may be unrecoverable.
A One Step Way to Lose Your Account Forever
Are Free Email Services Worth It?
Hi Leo,
Really clear and understanding article, in my case, someone have provided updated recovery info that was and old mobile number without access anymore, I checked and it is not in use when called, they replaced old recovery info with an alternate email address that I dont know.
However if it can be of any help I was able to change my password providing many subjects emails and recipient also, so for now the cant access my account, but still need to wait for the 30 days period to change recovery info.
My concern is if the were able to updated without the old number active I SUPPOSE that change will be rejected and I will be in full charge of my account when period expired without a confirmation from the old mobile number, if this is correct I suppose I will be in the same situation to update my recovery info.
Really annoying that I was able to probe to MS system that I own and have access to the account and I need to keep waiting for the period with the high risk that security info finally updated and will lose any access and the have total control of my acount.
Regards
