Does anyone have a good suggestion for collecting online application fees?  I have the epayments module but I don't accept credit cards through PW.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

I am using the credit card module only for application fees. I won’t take rent that way as it would cost too much. The application fee via credit cards works fine. When application comes in it shows if payment has been made. You can set up various rules for what the fee is and have a different fee for guarantors.

Regards,

Mike

We do the same thing...we don't accept credit cards for rent, but they work great for the application fees.

I think I accidentally sent someone an email.. I shouldn't operate a computer prior to coffee.
We dont accept CCs at all. Probably 80% pay app fees with epayments and the rest drop off money orders

Theressa,

How do you set up the epayments to accept the application fees before you have them as a tenant?

Thanks,
Rob

instead of setting them up as active you set them up as a draft. make sure that if they are not eventually approved that you go back and terminate the draft lease else they may show up on reports later.

Also, if they end up being approved you need to make sure you go back and change them from "draft" to "active"

Theressa, I understand that you don't accept credit cards but propertyware requires that you to pay to have credit cards setup in order to use their epayment. Do you use ytheir payment?

I think this aspect of propertyware sucks.  you can't use the online payment with the online credit application unless you have payment and you can't use epayment unless you subscribe to their credit card company.  so epayment add $30 per month and then adding the credit card acceptance adds another $5 per month plus all the percentage fees.  They don't let you use another cc company because it doesn't integrate with the software and i think because they don't make any money off of it.

Hi Jeffrey, even if propertyware will allow you to use a different merchant company, all companies charge a monthly fee plus transaction fees for that service (accepting credit cards), I used to work with merchant accounts and I know all the fees and how they work, so there is no way you will find something cheaper than propertyware besides if you consider the time that they save you because by taking epayments you don't have to manually enter all those transaction, the system does it for you, you are actually saving labor salaries and time.

Rob,

You can use any credit card company you want but it won't integrate the information directly into PWARE and someone will have to manually enter the data. Lots of companies use the application in PWARE but put a PayPal, or flint or another link for the app fee to be paid that way outside of PWARE. So the only thing that wouldn't happen is the field that says app fee paid or not would have to manually changed.
