Communityis an American television sitcom which premiered on NBC on September 17, 2009, and ended on June 2, 2015. The series creator Dan Harmon served as showrunner for all seasons, except season four in which David Guarascio and Moses Port served as co-showrunners.[1][2] The series follows a group of students at a community college in the fictional locale of Greendale, Colorado. The series heavily uses meta-humor and pop culture references, often parodying film and television clichs and tropes.[3][4]
The series stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, and Chevy Chase, with Jim Rash being promoted from recurring to series regular in season three.[5][6] In season four, following an incident on set, Chase departed the series.[7][8] In the fifth episode of season five, Glover left the series,[9][10] followed by Brown in the season finale.[11][12]
During the course of the series, 110 episodes of Community aired over six seasons. The first season of Community aired from September 17, 2009, through May 20, 2010. On March 5, 2010, NBC renewed the series for a second season,[13] which aired from September 23, 2010, through May 12, 2011. The series was renewed for a third season on March 17, 2011.[14] The third season aired from September 22, 2011, and concluded on May 17, 2012. The series was renewed for a fourth season on May 10, 2012.[15] The fourth season ran from February 7 to May 9, 2013.[16] The day after the season four finale, NBC announced it had renewed the series for a fifth season;[17] the season ran from January 2 through April 17, 2014.[18] A month later NBC announced that the series had been canceled.[19] Yahoo! Screen picked it up for a sixth and final season,[20] which ran from March 17 to June 2, 2015.[21][22]
The first season of Community premiered on September 17, 2009, and ended on May 20, 2010. NBC initially ordered 13 episodes, later ordering an additional nine in October and another three in January for a total of 25.[23][24]
The third season of Community premiered on September 22, 2011, and ended on May 17, 2012. It consists of 22 episodes. On November 14, 2011, NBC announced that they were placing Community on hiatus in favor of 30 Rock.[76] Immediately following this there was a fan-campaign demanding that Community be returned to the schedule.[77] The campaign utilized the phrase "six seasons and a movie", which first appeared in the episode "Paradigms of Human Memory". The phrase went on to be used in the future by both fans and the creative team when the show was faced with cancellation.[78] On February 21, 2012, the return date of the show was stated to be March 15.[79]
The fourth season of Community premiered on February 7, 2013, and ended on May 9, 2013. It consists of 13 episodes.[15] This was the only season of the show to not have Dan Harmon as showrunner, being replaced by Moses Port and David Guarascio.[101] The season was initially scheduled to premiere on October 19, 2012, airing in a new time slot on Fridays at 8:30 pm ET.[102] However, in early October 2012 NBC delayed the premiere.[103] They later released a video of the cast of Community, in character, addressing the delay of the season premiere; this video humorously claimed that October 19 is merely a "state of mind".[104][105] On October 30, NBC announced the new release date, returning it to its original time slot of Thursdays at 8:00 pm ET.[106]
The fifth season of Community premiered on January 2, 2014, and ended on April 17, 2014. It consists of 13 episodes. This was the final season of the series to air on NBC.[19][120] Following NBC's cancellation there were talks for the show to be moved to Hulu; the series was ultimately picked up by Yahoo! Screen.[121]
The sixth season of Community premiered on March 17, 2015, and ended on June 2, 2015. It consists of 13 episodes. This was the only season to air on Yahoo! Screen.[134] Yahoo! considered a seventh season but due to contractual issues did not renew the series.[135] Shortly after Yahoo! Screen was itself discontinued due to large financial losses.[136]
On September 30, 2022, after long speculation, it was officially announced that a feature length film would be released by the streaming service Peacock. The film will see the return of original cast members Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong.[138][139] In April 2023, Donald Glover confirmed his involvement in the film.[140] Per series creator Dan Harmon, Yvette Nicole Brown is set to return.[141]
The 5 As of Greendale is a webisode series that appeared before Community's pilot was broadcast. The videos are set up as informational videos featuring dean of admissions Pat Isakson (Dan Harmon) welcoming potential students to Greendale Community College.[142][143]
The Community College Chronicles are two webisodes that act as Abed Nadir's student films. The webisodes parody events that happen on Community. In the episode "Debate 109", the webisodes were seen by the characters making them believe Abed can see the future.[144] The webisodes also appeared as part of the A/V department's page on the Greendale Community College's website.[145][146]
Spanish Videos are two webisodes featuring Star-Burns (Dino Stamatopoulos), Abed (Danny Pudi), and Seor Chang (Ken Jeong). Seor Chang assigns the class a video assignment and Abed and Star-Burns make a space epic.[147]
TheTVDB, on the other hand, lists each of those two as separate episodes (along with all the other ones in that season), so the episode numbering is off. (This turns out to be convenient because occasionally I get single 15 minute episodes, like from a DVD).
Dealing with the multiple episode file and downloading the descriptions for both is super-duper helpful when I need to find a specific episode for my kids ("you know! the one where they play at the park!")
Mostly, this is a problem because the "is this episode already recorded" detector doesn't work since the episode numbering doesn't match (however, Emby gets big props for the "Do not record" button on the episode schedule!!)
I'm sure an argument could be made that the EPG's episode numbering is "better" in some ways (though I disagree) -- the bigger problem is that it doesn't match what is being used in the library (TheTVDB).
This isn't really anything to do with the meta-data providers. It's the way the network broadcasts these. Looking at the above pic you'll see it broadcast two episodes in the same time slot and they were: "Calm at the Restaurant" and "Calm in Class".
@Happy2Play No clue where it's coming from but maybe the file names Emby DVR uses plays into this.
If just set this series up to record so after a few days I'll have something to work off of as well.
Clearly, there are discrepancies about how these shows get numbered. As I said, this has been a problem in the past with other systems and other EPGs. I'm not sure whether there is any recourse with the EPG provider, since they will probably just point the finger at what they are getting from the channel.
I'm also not sure if there is an easy solution to the detection of the recording already being in the library, other than adopting the EPG's numbering scheme. Though, if I do that, I'm not sure where the metadata would come from for the library. (Also, it isn't clear how I would number the individual 15 min episodes I have).
So what I'm going to try later today after I get the 2nd recording is move the TS file and the NFO file in tandem to my TV Library. My hunch is if all episodes are recorded and moved this way you'll have valid meta-data and this will work well with Emby DVR to find and record missing episodes.
My concern is that, based on that .nfo file I posted above, somehow the description of the second episode didn't get included. I've paged through the guide and it looks like both descriptions are included, so maybe this was just a fluke.
I'm not quite sure how to get these to live happily with the ones being recorded. I could convert them all to the OTA episode numbering scheme... except that I don't know what it is because it isn't listed anywhere.
This Guide is intended for public officials and citizens seeking to understand what activities are eligible to be assisted under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Program and to guide them in making wise choices among certain alternatives available within the program for carrying out particular activities. While the statute, as amplified by the regulations, provides the authoritative version of program requirements, this Guide: Organizes eligibility requirements in a more accessible and understandable format; provides additional explanatory materials, including examples; provides guidance on the factors to be considered in selecting among alternative categories of eligibility and national objectives, where applicable; and provides guidance on accessing additional CDBG resources that may be available to a community.
For some reason, the TV Plus channel guide is out of sync on some of the channels. We're in the Cincinnati market but many of the "side band" channels are not in sync with the actual time. As an example, today (Thursday) MeTV was broadcasting Andy Griffith at 8:30 PM, but the guide showed Green Acres. We get the Cincinnati & Dayton CBS stations and the guide showed So Help Me Todd at 8:30 PM but CBS was actually broadcasting Ghosts. The kicker is not every channel is off. GetTV showed The Rockford Files at 8-9 PM which is what was actually on but not the actual episode.
