I've recently downloaded the Educational edition of Creo 7.0 in order to attend mechanical design classes in my collage. During the installation I had the Ansys Simulation product available so I checked the box and installed it as the rest of the apps and extensions.

Thanks for your quick answer Alex, So as Ansys Simulation is not available, do you know if I would be able to take a 3D model created with the educational version of Creo and then go to Ansys Student and analize it there? Would there be compatibility between both educational versions of Creo and Ansys?

Instead of converting to a step file and opening in ANSYS workbench, could you install the associativity link using ANSYS CAD Configurator and import a model into ANSYS workbench (vers. 212) directly from Creo (7.0). Apparently this should work normally (not working for me). Unsure whether the student version retains this functionality???

I am trying to download the free student software, and I followed the instructions step by step. When the installation finishes and I restart my computer workbench doesn't show up. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong ?

1. When installing, did you right-click on setup.exe and choose: run as administrator
2. Check if virus protection software blocking installation
3. Any error in the c:\program files\Ansys Inc\install,log file or install.err file?

"Failed to load addin Discovery.WBCore.Addin from location C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v232\Addins/Discovery/bin/Win64//Ans.Discovery.WBCore.dll. This addin will be skipped.: The type initializer for 'Discovery.WBCore.Addin' threw an exception."

Recommend to check the download size:

Redownload zip file and unzip to temporary directory.
Uninstall ANSYS Student.
Rename c:\Ansys Inc\ANSYS Student to Ansys_Student_old
Shut down virus scanner.
Reinstall ANSYS Student by right-clicking setup.exe in the temporary directory where the download is unzipped.

I am not very familiar with ANSYS, but I have used the workbench enough before to be familiar with it. So when I went to open the workbench I was surprised to see this.I am used to something that looks more like this second picture. I am using ANSYS 18.2, and that is the same version on all computers my students will be using in class. However, I don't have any idea how to change it to look like the second and cannot access ANSYS help since I don't manage the license and non of the student lab techs know anything about ANSYS. I can't effectively teach my students ANSYS if workbench GUI looks so different.

The first screenshot is technically the app called AIM (despite the fact that if you zoom in to the top left it says workbench). I was able to just type in "workbench" in the windows search bar and the correct app popped up.

i have a problem with my LS Manager saying "Error bad license keys". I'm just wondering if i've installed the LSDYNA properly or not. Can i know whether you donwload the LSDYNA on its own or do you use the ANSYS workbench? If you downloaded the LSDYNA cracked version on its own, do you mind emailing me through google drive the file? Thank you so much i really need this for my final year project. My supervisor doesn't know much about LSDYNA but asked me to figure it out myself so i highly appreciated if you can help me with this one.

If you wouldn't mind, could you attach an image of the error you are getting? Also, do you have a valid license? If you are a student you can request a 30 day student trial with your student email. It does have a restriction on number of nodes you can simulate however, which may be an issue for your project. You can also buy a student license for I believe $50 per 6 month period. If your supervisor wants, they can also ask for a full academic license which has a reduced price. Once you get a proper license you will be given instructions on the installation. Let me know if you still can't get it working after that.

So LS-Dyna and Ansys are two completely different solvers, these are the brains behind the finite element analysis problem. You set up your simulation for LS-Dyna using a Pre-Processor, the easiest to use and free one is LS-PrePost. Once you set your model up, you can open the LS-Dyna Program Manager and click on the start LS-Dyna analysis button (which I've attached a picture below). From here you can find your model in the input file browser, and then run the model.

I'm sorry but I cannot help you with getting a cracked version of LS-Dyna to work. If you are a student you should be able to get a free trial or even a very affordable license for this project. I would suggest doing that first. I hope this helps.
