Hello,

We are looking for an intern to implement or extend a new file-system
abstraction (a.k.a VFS) in PRoot. This VFS would be used:

- to improve the root privileges emulation ("-0" option)

- to implement a translation cache (speed-up)

- to implement a copy-on-write tool, à la http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/~taesoo/pubs/2013/mbox/mbox.pdf

- <insert your own idea here>

Due to legal reasons, the intern has to come from a French school and
has to work in our offices in Grenoble, although English language is
OK. Feel free to contact <cedric....@gmail.com> for further
details.

Cédric.

Curious what features the VFS does have and will have?  Wondering if that will help with moving content to people's sdcard (a goal discussed previously).

Thanks,
Corbin

Sadly no one applied :( I hope I'll have time to do this myself next
year...

I think so. For instance, I'd like to write a "cpio to VFS" converter
in order to use a rootfs archived in a cpio file directly, ie. without
extracting files. Then, modifications would be redirected on-the-fly
to an external writable location (the COW extension mentionned
previsouly).

Did you run advertisements at all (outside of this forum)?  Luckily, next year is close at hand.

This would be great for GNURoot.  I can certainly help in terms of trying it out and reporting issues.  Might be able to do more once I see your approach to this problem.

Thanks!
