Thank you very much, I0F!
The nvidia-drivers were in place, but it turned out I had conflicts with some of the pakckages with wine. They are solved now, so I wanted to re-install the lutris-script:
I tired install Starcraft 2 after having deleted it before to make space and it won't install. The launch window is telling me: "Impossible to verify the information for the update. If the problem persists, it is perhaps an error on our part. Please wait until the problem can be rectified."
I happen to sumble upon a forum here that addressed the issue - giving the following two commands for terminal as an answer: $ chmod 755 SC2-WingsOfLiberty-zhTW-Installer/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/InstallerLaunche r
Below are the minimum and recommended system specifications for StarCraft II for Windows and Mac. Due to potential programming changes, the minimum system requirements for StarCraft II may change over time.
Be very careful running any commands in the Terminal app if you are not familiar with using the command line. There is no safety net with the command line. It is very easy to destroy all your data or corrupt macOS either by misusing a command or even by a simple typographical error when entering a command. Make sure you have a good backup first just in case something goes wrong.
You must make sure you are within the parent folder for the "SC2-WingsOfLiberty-zhTW-Installer". If you are not in the parent folder, then you must include the full path. The easiest way to get the path is by typing the first part of the command making sure to leave at least one space at the end of the line after the "755 ":
Now use the Finder to drag & drop the "SC2-WingsOfLiberty-zhTW-Installer" onto the open Terminal window which will auto-fill the path to this item. Press the "Delete" key to remove the space at the end of the line and finish typing the rest of the path.
When you deleted the game previously did you delete it properly by following Blizzard's instructions? If not, then perhaps you left some old bits behind that may be interfering. Also, have you downloaded the latest version of the StarCraft2 installer? The old installer may no longer be supported due to changes with macOS or even changes Blizzard has made to their servers.
I don't think that I consulted any Blizzard instructions to delete the setup installer. I tried the instructions you gave for the terminal but I don't think that it worked; additionally, after what you said about the terminal I want to avoid messing up my Mac.
Thanks for all your help. I just have another question: I finally got to download the game - although seeing as my computer didn't have enough space, I stored it on my external hard drive. However, this sparked a whole new problem where by the game will load up a one point, but then won't even open at all now. Is this because I stored it on a external hard drive???
I don't know. It could be due to the low free space on your boot drive. You need to keep at least 20GB of free storage space on your boot drive for the normal operation of macOS. Bad things can happen if you run out of free storage space which can happen very quickly sometimes if you don't have at least 20GB free.
Even if you are installing the app to the external drive which has enough free space you did mention your Mac boot drive (internal?) does not enough free storage space to install and/or download StarCraft 2. If your macOS boot drive does not have enough free storage space, then macOS will not be able to run properly which also includes your StarCraft 2 game not running properly even if you installed StarCraft 2 to the external drive which has free storage space. Your macOS boot drive needs to have at least 20GB+ of free storage space at all times so that macOS and all your apps are able to work correctly.
Keep in mind even if you installed StarCraft 2 to the external drive the game will likely still use the internal boot drive to store game data such as temp & cache files which could add up to multiple GBs of data used on a drive that you indicate does not have enough free storage space.
If your macOS boot drive has at least 20GB of free storage space, then make sure you don't have any anti-virus apps, cleaning apps, or third party security software since these types of apps are not needed on a Mac and they usually cause more problems than they solve. If you have these types of apps installed, then uninstall those apps by following the developer's instructions. If you still have issues, then run Disk Utility First Aid, otherwise it likely indicates you have some type of system configuration issue or an issue with another third party app.
You can also contact Blizzard support or visit the StarCraft 2 game forums to see if other users can assist you in case the issue is with the game. It is unlikely you will find anyone who is aware of a StarCraft 2 specific issue on the general Apple forums. The easiest way to determine if there is a compatibility issue with macOS and StarCraft 2 is by performing a clean install of macOS by first erasing the entire physical drive before reinstalling macOS. Then only install StarCraft 2 to see if there are any issues. If this works, then you know without a doubt you had either a file system issue, a system configuration issue, or a third party app was interfering. If StarCraft 2 still has an issue after a clean install, then it indicates either a hardware issue with your Mac or a connected device (disconnect all external devices), or a compatibility issue, or an outright bug with StarCraft 2. It will be so much easier for Blizzard tech support to assist you if the issue occurs with a clean install.
ever since the latest patch i can not update the game, keeps saying about needing to run as administrator ( never had to do this before ) so i did run the app as admin but kept on saying the same thing.
Replays can never be restored without recreating the problem, but you can still watch and share them if you launch them outside of SC2. Hotkeys and Variables profiles can be restored without any problems.
You will still have a problem with renaming or deleting new replays that are created when you play, this can be resolved by taking control of the replays folder. -ownership-folder-windows-10-using-file-explorer
Hey everyone, I just wanted to chime in and let you know we are aware of some permission level issues that are causing various errors or update loops with the Blizzard Desktop Application and hosted games. We are investigating the issue and hope to...
I moved the folder, reinstalled (took all night), logged in (do that first), and then carefully copied back settings and replays that were not there. That folder is huge btw, if you go all the way back to WOL. Expect to take an hour of fiddling about.
The problem still there.
Tryed to install game after long break, not working in a single way.
Ironic kind of situation, decided to get back to play and yet something with those problems poping tells me to go away.
As far as I am aware, the issue that was originally behind this problem last week was fixed so you might be running into a different issue. Please try the troubleshooting on this support article and create a new topic if you continue to have issues.
I cannot install Starcraft 2 on my computer I paid a lot of money and would like to access the games I purchased.Starcraft 2 all 3 chapters. Please help all I get is a spinning icon and no error messages. I tried the results previously but nothing worked
Thank you for taking the time to report this! Update issues are typically caused by a conflicting third-party program, damaged/corrupted local Battle.net files, or a problem connecting to the patching server. Try the following steps to narrow this down:
Hello guys I'm new here in this forum. I just started to use the Starcraft 2 Editor 2 days ago, so I decided to join here to gather some knowledge. This may not be the right place to post my question. but anyway here it is. How can I play custom map that I downloaded here? And where should I put them in the Starcraft 2 directory or which folder?
Welcome to mapster! To play downloaded maps you just need to open them in the editor and click "Test Document", it is the green SC2 icon at the end of the menu bar. In case the map uses a mod file place the mod in your SC2 installation folder /mods.
If it's just a mapfile, then you can place it anywhere on your computer. However, a modfile must be inside the "Starcraft II/Mods" folder, and if there are several maps which load automatically after one has ended (campaign), then they also must be placed inside the Maps folder as instructed.
I am using play on linx and I want to to install Starcraft with it but it fails every time I try to.I install it successfully but then when I run battle.net it either doesn't open or crashes instantly.I tried different Wine versions same crash every time.
Furthermore, I had to jump through some extra hoops to get my gaming laptop here to actually use the better of the two graphics card it has inside it. If you're in this boat too, you'll need to keep reading to get Starcraft II just right.
You need to do advance set up (custom) and install some libs separately, when installing with POL. I am playing SC2 on Ubuntu 16.04. It is still crashing sometimes unfortunately.AFAIR, I more or less followed this =jv8s0_5YvLg
However, I'd prefer to download and play it through the Blizzard desktop app. When I install that and go to the StarCraft II section it says it's the "starter edition" and there's a "Try for Free" button.
I cannot see any way to use the client to play Legacy of the Void. There's nothing in the drop-down menu for regions (which I understand is where it was during the beta). There doesn't seem to be any more recent advice for this that I can find.
I apologise for the confusion here, you do in fact own StarCraft 2, but it hasn't yet triggered on the app - to get it to update, just download and play the trial and when you login select a campaign and then log out, it will then correctly show that you own it :)
