The screen immediately turns to black without the intro playing at all, and stays that way indefinitely. I have to somehow dig my way through task manager without looking at it to end this task since I can't alt-tab out of this.
Hi all I have a problem in the game.
When I go to the map the picture freezes and in the background the game continues. Unfortunately, this also happens when I start a championship, as the map also opens for this. What can I do?

DXVK a.k.a. "RTX Fix"
The most common fix is to use the RTX Fix .dll file. It will fix the map freezing issue, but could potentially cause game lag/stability issues also. I will attach it to this post, copy and paste in your TDU2 directory.
I personally have an RTX 3070, and with the RTX Fix the game becomes laggy and unstable. Instead of freezing in the map view, it can freeze randomly now. That's why I use the following method myself:
Alt-Tab method
When opening the map for the first time after launching, it opens on the most zoomed in view. This is the view where the game freezes, but does not actually crash. What you want to do is alt-tab out of the game and go back in while quickly zooming out on the map. During alt-tabbing back into the game, it becomes responsive for a second. When you succesfully zoom out, the game should work again.
This method has no effect on TDU2 that uses dxvk files. I found that when I use dxvk (d3d9.dll). The steam interface in my game disappears and the controller cannot be used. And unfortunately the alt+tab method has no effect on my game From the sad reminder users who use 1660ti.
I really Hope there will be a better fix one day. In my Case (RTX 2070 Super) neither the RTX fix nor the "alt-tab"-trick is working. While the "Alt-Tab"-Trick just doesn't work, the RTX fix just makes the stability so bad, that the game crashes even earlier than i would open the map for the next time. But, of course, without the map the game is just unplayable, because you can't enter any competition.

ive tried all of these and still doesnt work....ironicly im unable to zoom in or out on map, some championships work (like on the nort end of island, while others the game goes black screen and unresponsive...hella grrz cause i love this game!!!!
My 6-core Ryzen laptop with 1650 GPU keeps having the same issue. I tried all the solutions but it keeps messing up on the map screen. We have to wait for a fix from the developer(s). A permanent fix. I guess an improved installer could fix this issue/these issues by applying the needed patches to specific systems. No matter what, Atari did not leave anything to desire to be lend or borrowed. The attitude with broke game developers is the same as with enriched developers. If I look at the shitty issues a game like GTA5 Online has. I quit playing that game and asked Rockstar to purge my level 400 character. The perspective here is that Rockstar don't give a shit about the players and neither did Atari. Rest in peace! I have other things to do
Hi, after trying all the solutions to fix the freezing map the problem still continues. The d3d9.dll file make my game crash and the other files make a freezing or a black screen map. How i can fix this plz.
Ok i have been playing TDU2 recently and the fps i am getting seems really low for my setup,i am getting 17-30 most of the time and up to 45 fps if i am lucky, when i would thought i would be able to max it out and get 60+fps,but i have also had low fps in 2 other games(shift 2 and dirt showdown, both about 25-45maxed out).
I also noticed that while playing TDU2 with msi afterburner running on another screen that the lower the fps i am getting the lower the GPU usage is,like 70% usage gets me 45 fps,but most of the time it stays around 59% usage,i have not checked to see if the same thing still happens with the other 2 games.
check CPU usage on each core if its 100% on like 2-4 cores then that means your cpu is bottlenecking it, what graphic settings do you have (please don't say max, like AA, AF resolution eyecandy, be detailed) how much ram do you have and what speed of ram, do you have firefox open on youtube, it has a nasty habit of putting amd cards in a lower media clocks
I have checked cpu usage while playing and it is at 40% and ram usage is at 60%,game settings are 1920x1080 res, vsync off,8xAA,environment quality very high, car and opponent quality very high, texture filtering quality very high,FX quality very high,i have 8gb of ddr3 1600mhz,i have don't use firefox i use chrome, but i do have 4 tabs running on chrome(youtube, yahoo email, twitter, and tek syndicate)i also have a folder open, fraps is running(not recording but to keep an eye on my fps),msi afterburner, skype, steam, utorrent, and cpuid hardware monitor ar also open.
EDIT:i updated the drivers and for about 3 seconds after i started driving around my gpu usage was at 94% and i was getting 60-75 fps, then after those 3 seconds it dropped back to the same low fps as before....
Ok, this game launched in US on 8th and UK on 11th, I bought it from Steam, downloaded on the 8th and started playing on the 9th and have already noticed quite a few issues but I can't be sure how many are local to my set-up or universal.
These issues have been fixed or have ways to work around them:
Well, I have not had issues with the fullscreen mode that you are talking about, I too am playing on the same resolution.
But another bug that I found is that if you want to rebind your keys on the keyboard from controlling you character with the arrow keys to WASD-keys it will only allow you to input 3 of the keys, the last one it just refuses.
Maybe not a bug but it seems to me that cars handle worse then they should. I got a AWD A6 car and it weaves and fish tails like a RWD car.
Also, the hedge bushes shouldn't be concrete, you should be able to drive thru them.
And why is there so much smoke coming out of the exhaust? Its just stupid.
I have found with the start of a race try if you time your accelaration so that as the word 'GO' appears on the screen you push the button/pedal you get an immediate start off the line, if you hold the button down you get delayed at the line. I managed to get to play offline today, I had 3 attempts at different times yesterday before it would let me play offline as the servers were down.
I really enjoy the game when I can get it to play, but there really needs to be a better way to get it into offline mode, I did it by unplugging my network cable and then starting the game which got a prompt on the screen asking if I want to play in offline mode, otherwise it was going in a loop, it would start to launch then tell me the servers were down and then loop back to the press enter to start screen.
I'm tired of all these bugs and issues. Since tuesday, I've had more freezes playing this game than the entire time I've played this generation. Unacceptable that server problems render a console game unplayable unless you disable the internet connection.
I loved the first game and enjoyed getting all 1000 achievement points, but goddamn this game is a mess. I'm going to bitch my way to a refund tommorrow.
Found a pretty big issue and a annoying one.
Big issue is that on the second island, I'm not getting credit for driving on the road. You know how it turns blue for paved and yellow for offroad? It's only giving me random credit and the GPS acts like it can't keep up. It will actually say I'm increasing my distance to the target until .3 or .4 miles have past then it will catch up. I'm really hoping this was just a fluke and that when I play again tomorrow, it will be fixed.
And the annoying issue is how cars react to things that you hit or drive over. I've had cars actually point skyward because I ran over a little curb. It's like the game don't know what to so it freaks out. I was just driving a Lotus A5 and tapped sideways on a guard raid and it spun me around three or four times but nearly at a stand still. Quite frankly the physics in the game are messed up.
Yeah, I've seen that too. I was driving a A7 Alfa Romeo and the game had serious issues with that car starting from neutral. It would bang around between first and second gear. It really makes me think that the dev didn't pay much attention to some cars. "
A new update was released for this game today and Clubs are back online.
I've updated my original post to show what changes I have seen or things that I was able to fix using advice from people on here.
New issues, I think I know that answer, but after trading a house with 2 parking slots for 1 with 4 I have noticed that 2 of my cars are missing, I'm guessing that they were sent to my house in Hawaii, but I don't know how to bring them back, so ideas would be welcome as I need my 4x4 for some discovery missions.
