Mac OS "Alias" files

Has anyone done any work towards creating a file format signature for Mac OS 'Alias' files (the equivalent to 'Shortcut' files on Windows)? I had a look at the Wikipedia page and there's a clearly defined file structure for them. Before submitting anything to PRONOM I thought I'd see if it's something somebody is already working on. I can share file samples if needed.

The Alias format has been on my list for some time, but since we don't keep them in our repository, I have yet to put much effort into it. 

I do feel they are important, especially to a pre-ingest workflow. I have come across them a few times where the alias is there, but the original file is not. Opening the Alias file can help me understand where the file original was located and some other details which may help in documentation. 

Definitely a worthwhile task. Let me know how I can help.
