All,
While investigating the Roxio Toast disk image format, I now understand they use the Apple Partition Map disk image scheme which is used for older Macintosh systems. These will include a regular HFS or HFS+ filesystem but have a different structure so they are not identified through the PRONOM HFS PUID
fmt/1105. Another PUID
fmt/1071 for a generic DMG Apple Disk Image will also not identify Disk Images with an Apple Partition Map.
So, would it be better to create a new PUID for all Partition Map files and their many extensions, or a Toast specific signature based on additional strings?
They could be added to existing PUID's as a variation of the format.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
