A bumper crop of new and updated FDDs from Library of Congress Sustainability of Digital Formats

Hi all!

Thanks to a group effort (me, Marcus Nappier, Liz Holdzkom, contractor Joel Lawhead, and, sadly now former, Junior Fellows Dan Hockstein and Mari Allison), we have a cornucopia of new and updated fdds (file format descriptions) for the Library of Congress Sustainability of Digital Formats!  These new fdds also impacted trickle-down changes in related fdds.

New fdds: 

• KML (formerly Keyhole Markup Language) Zipped (fdd 547)
  
  • PUID:  fmt/724
  • Wikidata:  Q28921959
• Well-known Text (fdd 548)
  
  • PUID: No match yet but we'll work on getting it submitted
  • Wikidata:  Q61714670
• JPEG XS Encoding (fdd 545)
  
  • PUID: No match but not expected because this is an encoding
  • Wikidata:  Q60776453
• JPEG XS File Format (fdd 546)
  • PUID: No match yet but we'll work on getting it submitted
  • Wikidata: No match (hint to Kat :))

Also Dan and Mari did a bunch of FDD-PUID-QID matching that will show up in our next monthly report - I'll post that when it's ready in early September. But you can also run the script yourself to get the report at any time. See instructions for that here.

Finally, all our fdds are also available as XML! More info on that here.

Wait there's more! Next up will be 3D Tiles - spoiler alert that there's no PUID or QID for that yet...
