Dear all,

I don't know how many of you would care about this (aka stephen and
mobo and garrison and other employed people stop reading), but the
company I'm interning for right now may need interns/employees. Its in
Soho in NYC and its an innovative market research firm called
Brainjuicer (brainjuicer.com). If this doesn't spark any interest,
skip to the bottom of this email where I say how much I miss you all.
If you want to read, I'm about to go into extreme detail about the
company because I want to put it all out there (both good and bad
things).

So. Brainjuicer has big big clients like Kraft, J and J, PandG, Heinz,
and Del Monte, Publicis (they sometimes do research for ad agencies),
and they've won awards from Esomer (sp?). They send out surveys to
test product concepts and ad copy and try to use "the wisdom of the
crowd" to determine the success of a product. So they ask people like,
"for this product, would you sell or buy your shares?" Then they ask
you how the product makes you feel based on pictures of faces. Its
cool but wacky.

That being said, its a "different" kind of job. Its based in England
and they have offices throughout the US that are super small. The NY
office has 12 people at any given time in a big room with desks (no
cubicles and no offices). There is professional grafitti on the walls
of orange cartoon brains and crazy shiz. My day to day work mostly
deals with numbers--I spend most of my day clicking through survey
links to make sure they work, comparing data on ppts and excels to
make sure they match up, and "merging" free response survey questions.
This means that if 12 people put "I would rather poke my eyes out than
use this fucking product," (seriously) I take out the word fucking and
put it them all under 1 answer. Pretty thrilling stuff. Oh and I'm
also on gchat all day, as many of you know.

But the office is nice because you can wear whatever you want and
everybodys really chill. My boss loves vulgar tshirts...his shirt the
other day read, "the customer is always an ass hole." He scares me a
little.

The deal is, you intern for like 3 months for 10 bucks an hour. And if
they like you, they'll hire you full time, fly u to england for
training, and give u a company iPhone. I can't stay past July, and I
don't know if market research is for me, but its a legit company and a
pretty easygoing place to work.

Basically let me know if you're interested. I figured when they
mentioned to me that they'd maybe like to hire more people you all
were the best/smartest/brightest people to ask! And its no big deal if
nobody wants this, its not like my responsibility to find people, but
I figure I'd throw it out there. I can see some of you loving it and
some of you hating it.

And now...I miss you all, I love you all, I think we should all rent
out a beach house one weekend. Thoughts?

Love,
Acosta
