Finding per hour statistics for counter

I have a counter, and I have to make a graph(preferably bar based) which represents per hour statistics.

I am currently trying to make use of increase function:

increase(my_counter)[60m]

But I don't get very satisfactory results.

Is my approach correct?

Or some other better way of achieving this?
