Hi

Does prometheus (v2.20.1) support cifs (smb) share for for storing its database (tsdb)?

And is there list of supported file systems? Didn't find it in https://prometheus.io/docs/

Is GlusterFS supported (https://www.gluster.org/) ?

The general rule is that prometheus requires a posix compliant
filesystem, with a strong recommendation for local storage.

Local storage is recommended for reliability, which is key for a
monitoring system, and also to prevent mistakes like pointing 2
instances in the same data directory.

We have frequent reports of corruptions from various remote storage
filesystems.

Hi  Julien!

Ok, what about prometheus in kubernetes? (where local storage on cluster nodes is not good idea)
Is there recommended solution for persistent volume file system (for prometheus pod)?

Thanks

That depends on the provider. People use persistent volumes for this,
which is then an ext4 disk attached to the containers.

Not local node volumes, Persistent Volumes. It's completely OK and normal in Kubernetes to use Persistent Volumes.

For example, we ues GKE, so GCE persistent disks are what we use for our Prometheus volumes.
