Prometheus operator WAL corruption

Using prometheus operator with EKS. Recently, Prometheus started running into issue cleaning up wal files. Restarted prometheus instance - that did not help. I also do not see checkpoint folder under wal folder and wal files are building up.
What is the best way to recover from this issue?
