backend storage for Prometheus

We are struggling on which backend storage is best to use for Prometheus metrics remote storing, block storage or NFS?

Any experience can be shared?f

The Prometheus database should be stored on a regular local storage device. The idea is to reduce potential failures by avoiding network dependencies.
