Scraping endpoint errors with http: server gave HTTP response to HTTPS client

Hello community,

I am using ASM (Google's version of Istio) with Prometheus to scrape our K8s pods running on ASM. I am on v2.23 of Prometheus. 

I see the error http: server gave HTTP response to HTTPS client. Also, when I run curl to http endpoint, I get the metrics fine. These metrics should be available only when https endpoint is queried. Has anyone else seen similar errors while running Istio/ASM.
