Purge / Delete data from TSDB

I have JVM (Spring BOot) monitoring setup and the grafana dashboard has been templatized to select the app from a drop down to see the stats for that app.

The app team changed the name of a bunch of application and are now requesting removal of data for the old app name, ie, they dont want to see those apps in the drop down.

I have a 300day retention period, and i know the data will only be purged after 300days. so One way would be to reduce retention. But that would purge ALL my data/

Is there any other way to remove all data for the old app name only without affecting other data?

You need to enable the admin API and the delete the series and clean tombstones I believe:
