Node-Exporter version compatibility

Are new versions of Node-Exporter for Prometheus compatible to older versions? Is someone automatically update this exporter without any check's?

node_exporter is still pre-1.0.0 so metrics and/or CLI flags may change between versions. Read the release notes.

and maybe running a diff between the old and the new output.
