Grafana/Prometheus dynamic template variables

I am looking into using Grafana with Prometheus. I would like have templated dashboards where the values of the template variable are dynamically determined from Prometheus labels. Is there currently a way to do this?

Since we're using PromDash at SC, we don't have too much experience with the Grafana/Prometheus combination ourselves, but there have been two (merged) PRs in grafana-plugins that added or improved dynamic templating for the Prometheus data source for Grafana:

- "Implemented metricFindQuery() to enable templating by query for prometheus": https://github.com/grafana/grafana-plugins/pull/16

- "Improve Templated dashboard, Panel repeat support, etc": https://github.com/grafana/grafana-plugins/pull/21

Maybe looking over these will be helpful - otherwise consider contacting the PR authors for more information.
