Hi,

Is there a possibility to use an external storage say for example cassandra to store prometheus metrics?

Regards
Ashish

Not exactly.  We currently support writing external storage, but not reading.

There are long-term roadmap ideas on how to do this, but not currently implemented.

You mean prometheus can write to an external flat file storage something like a Storage Area Network? However not to a database(sql or nosql).

No, the external storage code currently supports writing to graphite, influxdb, and opentsdb[0].  Note, this is an experimental feature.
