Hi, I get the feeling this might be something obvious but I am quite technical and I seem to have exhausted all my options! I am just beginning a store using the Debut theme, and I've added about eight products. When I go into the theme editor and click the products page, none of the products is showing.
They don't show when I preview my store, or when I click the product link on the menu. (the Menu link navigates to Products > All Products. The products are definitely there and all variations have been set, and I can preview the product page itself. The products just don't seem to populate the Products page, which is what I would expect to see on the website. When I previewed products page I get the square boxes in a grid, but my products are not in there.
The reason it was implemented last year was that some feedback was that people didn't always want their new products published immediately, which I get. I duplicate products from other products so when I would do that I would have to go and uncheck them from their sales channels straight away. Works for me, doesnt work for a lot of people.
OMG, thank you for posting this question. I'm pretty good with computers but this new Shopify experience is all new for me. I thought I was going crazy. They were all showing as active, and I published them, but I didn't know that I also had to add them to my shop channel. I was racking my brain trying to think why they were not showing up on my shop. Thank you to the person that posted the question and thank you for the person that answered the question. You saved me a lot of time. Shopify is not user friendly and has no place to ask questions. You're on your own once you start. I'm hoping this is because it keeps out people that really don't want to do this and they are just playing around.
Templates are a collection of sections that are configured to give your online store a consistent look and feel. Which sections are available in your templates depends on your theme. In the theme editor, you can discover which templates are applied to which pages, and then edit them to customize the information displayed to your customers.
Editing a template applies the changes to every page that uses that page template. For example, if you add a newsletter signup form to a collection template, then all collections pages that use the default collection template now display the newsletter signup form.
You can edit your templates to add sections to your online store. Some sections contain blocks that can be further customized, but not every section or block has settings or content that can be edited. When you edit your templates, your changes are displayed in real time in the theme preview window.
If you have a screen larger than 1600 pixels wide and your browser window is fully expanded, or your browser window is expanded to at least 1600 pixels wide, then two sidebars will display. The left-hand sidebar contains the navigation panel, and the right-hand sidebar contains the setting panel.
Any changes you make to a template will impact all pages that use that template. If you want to display some pages of that type differently, then you can create a new template based on one that already exists in your theme. Creating a new template from an existing template automatically populates your new template with the same sections, which you can then edit to remove, add, or hide sections as needed without impacting the display of other templates of that type.
Template previews let you test how a template will display different resources to your customers when you save or publish. You can use template previews to preview how your pages or products display with a different template applied.
Templates are assigned on a page or product level. You create and edit templates in the theme editor, but you change a page or product's assigned template in your Shopify admin. You can have multiple templates for your pages and products.

I am unable to edit the product page theme or create a new product theme in my Shopify store. I've now removed the Shogun app in case that was interfering but it hasn't made a difference. Is anyone able to help diagnose this issue?
I have checked your post. You need to assign product template by going to back-end of the product. Right now there is not any single product assigned to the default product template. You may check image which i have uploaded here. You needs to select default template on list of drop-dwon.
When going to Theme > Online store > Customize > Sections, I am able to click on and edit all other options (collections, collections list, blog, etc), however, when I select Product, the options underneath (Default Theme, Pre-order, Create a template) are all greyed out and don't allow me to select any of the options.
Something to try: If you are following the steps listed by others with multiple browser tabs open (i.e., Saving the Product Theme settings on one tab, and then trying to edit the default Product Page theme on a different tab), make sure to refresh the second tab.
I found your question as I was having the same problem. I work using multiple browser tabs open and here's what I did:
1. Follow what others have said: In Products, assign a product to the Default theme: Theme template > Default-product
2. Save
3. Go to the browser tab where you want to edit your Default-product theme.
4. Refresh this browser.
5. You should now be able to click on and edit the Default-product theme.
This was the problem I was having. I hope this helps.
