Lifers,
Happy Friday. First of all, thank you all so much for your hard
work. PLAers ARE AMAZING!!!! If you have any ideas of how to maximize
the end of the semester for LIFE, let me know! WE gotta keep working
for the babies!
1) Great job flyering. For anyone who can, each week around 6.45 b/f
meetings we'll gather and flyer as much as we can before 7:30!
2) Next week's meeting we're flyering at campus crusade for Silent No
More but meeting first in room 355
3) Silent No more- invite on facebook (link is on PLA facebook page).
April 7th: 1p.m. 3p.m.
4) Prayer Vigil at Bread & Roses Abortion Clinic during Lent- Contact
an officer if you want INFO on how to sidewalk counsel, when to go
pray.
5) TOMORROW: Reitz 357 10:30 AM Budget hearing. More Info below:
Lifers,
I have a little more information about the budget hearing:
1) It will probably start late. Get there around 10:15 at the
earliest if you want to come
2) What you can do to help. By being at the budget hearing, we will
show SG we have support and interest in PLA. If you have time, I can
give you a “defense” for some of our expenditures.
3) What’s it gonna be like? Not exactly sure, but here’s a rough
guess of the format.
Format:
There will be the treasury people with a copy of our budget proposal.
We will be in the room with a laptop with our excel copy of our budget
with the breakdown of costs.
We will have to “defend” why we need the money for each item. If we
wanted to get money for a new event, for example, Cupcakes for Life,
we would need to explain why we need that money.
You need $200 for cupcakes? What’s the breakdown of costs? How will
this benefit the campus/the mission of your organization?
OR: Our organization needs weekly funding for equipment because our
rooms aren’t large enough. And us being there can help with these
reasons.
If we can give GOOD REASONS for why we need $, they MAY be convinced
to give us more than a 5% increase.
RIGHT NOW, if you have ideas for events I can add to the budget, let
me know ASAP. I’m gonna edit the excel sheet tonight so ideas for
EVENTS, ADVERTISEMENTS, SPEAKERS & estimated costs of those would be
appreciated.
And see you Saturday. Don’t get there at 10—they’ll be late.
