When Australian jazz guru Mike Nock says “... this is a recording to treasure.” you get a pretty good idea that the band behind it have come up with the goods. The ‘Generations’ Cd came out on the local Jazzgroove label last year.
Like Mike Nock, Sydney Morning Herald jazz critic, John Shand, was similarly impressed saying “... Ginsburg rains gorgeous melodies about our ears... drawing on liturgical sources.”
John Shand also compared Mark’s musical influences and journey favourably to that of New York’s brilliant John Zorn.

In his own words Mark says: “The things that drive my musical explorations range from the experience of singing in a synagogue choir as a young boy, ... through to hearing strains of Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane playing on my elder brother’s monophonic turntable.... Plus rhythm was in the air. It’s in the blood of the African people, like a constant heartbeat. I am also inspired by the contemporary jazz emanating from the highly creative music scene in Australia.” |
