Hey Folks,

I just got a bug report this morning.

Apparently Sprouts does not work with Ruby 1.9.1. It seems this is
thanks to our reliance on some other outdated/unmaintained libraries.

http://github.com/lukebayes/project-sprouts/issues#issue/46

I'm not currently on Ruby 1.9.1, so this itch doesn't need scratching
for my day to day life, but it seems like it would be great if we were
forward compatible.

Anyone else interested in pushing on this issue?

I'd be happy to contribute as much ramp-up time as you need if it
means adding active contributors!

Thanks,

Luke

There's a fork of rubyzip @ http://github.com/ericworking/rubyzip
which does indeed work (well, after my pseudopatchtasticness :P ).
Obviously a wee bit googling was beyond someone... (and I don't mean
you Luke!)

That said, 1.9.1 is as slow as ... (no doubt other 'legacy' code, e.g.
rake)-personally sticking with 1.8.7, much faster.

Thanks for the heads up - so 1.9.1 is slower than 1.8.7?

I thought it was a big performance improvement for some reason. Can't
say I've ever tried it though.

Thanks for the link - we should definitely keep that in mind for
whenever the update does happen.

Thanks,

Luke

It supposedly is faster- a la benchmarking anyway (which is why I even
tried with sprouts) but that's not been my experience rake or irb for
example, which pretty much shoots things like rails/sprouts/etc. in
the foot; may well be faster in production but I don't need to be
using sticky toffee tools.

Hopefully Christmas will deliver 1.9.2 as promised =)
