Hey Project Michelle LA!

Happy Fiscal New Year! (for all of you in government, finance, business or whatever =P) Our So Cal summer heat is finally here, so keep an eye out for those brown-out notices...

I digress.. Bone Marrow Drives!
Unfortunately, our big Kollaboration drive that was supposed to net a couple hundred new registrants only got us 26 =( But thanks to all the hardworking volunteers who made it out to help... remember, it only takes one person to be a match. Your time is always appreciated and needed.

We do not currently have any coordinated drive efforts going on at the moment, but Ted Nguyen at A3M has been kind enough to ping the list every time he has any drives going on. Leang, Vikas and I will do our best to gather and disseminate any volunteer request information as best and as early as we can, but we urge you to be proactive and flexible in seeking out or dropping by drives on short notice. If you're thinking about dropping $50 for a night out on the town to meet some eligible guys/gals, save your money and head out to a drive instead! It's a great way to meet people ;D

The Laugh Factory
One of our awesome volunteers, Tammy, works for the Laugh Factory (http://www.laughfactory.com/) and she has somehow convinced her bosses to let us do a charity event/bone marrow drive at either their Hollywood or Long Beach location! While we imagine this will take at least several weeks of planning, we are hoping to get a show together sometime this summer. If you want to help plan, or have ideas or connections for bringing performers, $$$, or attendees, please let us know!

Some preliminary details from Tammy: "any organization that is officially non-profit (with a 501c3) gets 100% of the door. That means we don't have to charge anything at the door (or we can make our own rules) assuming that A3M is registered as non-profit. The club still makes money because there is a 2-drink minimum per person when attending a show. They ask that the charity have a minimum of 200 guests, otherwise, the charity must pay $5/head that is under."

And... go! This is a fun one, so all you PR/marketing professionals (or aspiring ones like me).. we need you!

A3M Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
For those of you who don't know, A3M, or Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches is the non-profit organization that has provided locations, leads, literature, advertising, and swab kits for all of our marrow drives from the beginning. Yes, it's their job, but we would be nothing but a bunch of eager and hopeless volunteers without them. And what do they do? Put together a luncheon to celebrate us!
