Hi Project Michelle LA and Friends,

It has been over a year since we lost Michelle to leukemia. While it continues to be a painful memory to us, many wonderful things have also occurred in our lives since that day, and I hope this Night the Light Walk will allow us to continue to share those joys with her every year.

Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost.

This year's walk in Southern California takes place in Griffith Park on Saturday, October 2, 2010. Registration begins at 5:00pm and the walk follows a Remembrance Ceremony at 6:00pm.

In Remembrance of Michelle Maykin
Light the Night Walk
Saturday, October 2
Griffith Park, Crystal Springs Picnic Area
Check-in: 5:00PM
Team Page: http://pages.lightthenight.org/los/griffith10/InRemembranceofMichelleMaykin
More information about the walk itself: http://www.lightthenight.org/los/

Please join us in the walk. You do not have to register to join us, but please consider donating at least $5 if you do. If you do not wish to donate on the site, just let me know and I will donate on your behalf and collect from you at the walk. In any case, it would be great to see all your lovely faces and get out for some fresh air =)

If you cannot join us, please consider donating or sending me a message about Michelle that I will read aloud to our group during the Remembrance Ceremony.

Pass the message on! And if you don't know about Michelle, ask me! And read about her story here: http://projectmichelle.com
And we are still trying to get the state of California to pass the Michelle Maykin Memorial Donation Protection Act, so sign the petition here: http://www.petitiononline.com/sb1304/petition.html

Thank you for your unending support <3

Hi Everyone,

Happy Thursday. I've only received a couple responses so far, and most of them are no's =/ It would be really great to get a good sized group together this Saturday, and the weather should be clear (although maybe a little chilly-- low of 61 degrees forecasted). Please let me know as soon as possible if you can join us.

And please make note of the parking situation: There is designated parking at a structure in Glendale, where a shuttle will bring you to Griffith Park. There is no parking on the festival site. Details are below.

If you really cannot join us, please consider making a donation on our Michelle Team website:

Thank you to those who have already contacted me and who have made generous contributions! It really means a lot to me, our Team, and I'm sure anyone who has or had a loved one struggle with leukemia or any type of cancer.
