Dear Friends,

Project K.I.D. continues its work in Haiti and much has been accomplished with the help of funders, partners, schools, individual donors and other NGOs.
We have submitted funding proposals to extend our work beyond the immediate response recognizing that Haiti is in much need of sustained attention and support.

We are especially pleased to announce our new partnership with The Children's Forum in Tallahassee, FL, which is providing administrative and program support for these projects.  Phyllis Kalifeh, CEO of The Children's Forum, and her talented team are tremendous assets to Project K.I.D.'s work!

To recap our efforts to date:

- In-country assessment was conducted January 27 - February 10, 2010
- Early situational reports were produced and disseminated
- Established working relationships with UN OCHA clusters including the Child Protection Working Group
- Facilitated food/supply drops to outlying locations, including partnerships with ShelterBox and AirCalvary to reach orphans in Kenscoff
- Through relationships with HOPE Worldwide, initiated partnership with Les Eglises Internationales de Christ - Haiti, #7 Rue Audant, Canape Vert, Haiti
- Have received in-kind donations of PlayCare Kits and transported over two tons of supplies for children from the U.S. to Port au Prince
- Established the first PlayCare site co-located with Project MediShare Hospital, Haiti serving approximately 30-40 children daily
- Identified partner location for Maternal Child and Pediatric Amputee Stepdown facilities at NPH St. Damien Hospital, Haiti
- Established second PlayCare site in collaboration with the Angels of Light at Tabarre, a day camp serving approximately 200 children daily
- Established third PlayCare site in Kenscoff with Les Enfants de Jesus serving 40 children daily
- Hired and trained Haitian staff to work in PlayCare sites working with our Haitian Site Coordinator
- Additional PlayCare kits are arriving from schools in the US supporting the Haiti Relief efforts and will be deployed at locations in cooperation with partners on the ground
- Valuable collaborations and relationships continue to be formed to enhance and expand our work for children including those who have experienced limb loss

Paige Ellison-Smith is in Haiti this week. The outcome of our funding applications will determine our ability to expand PlayCare sites and ancillary services beyond our initial commitment through April 2010.

Thank you for your ongoing interest and support!
