Program to feature foster-care children Kids in foster care, including a girl in Nebraska, will share their stories in a new half-hour special,
"Foster Care: A Reality Check," at 8 p.m. Sunday on Nickelodeon (Time Warner Cable channels 32 and 144).
Close to half a million kids are in foster care. How did they wind up there? How do they cope with moving from home to home? What happens
when they're no longer kids? Those are all questions foster kids face every day. For many, a foster family is an oasis of stability and sanity.
But for others, foster care is filled with loneliness and longing for something most kids take for granted: a family of their own.
