Greetings, friends of Project Everlast!
If you work with a young person who is in need of financial assistance, please remember the Need Based Fund. The Need Based Fund is a flexible pot of money administered by the Foster Youth Council that is intended to help young people pay for things for which financial assistance is typically unavailable. Funds are granted for a wide range of expenses; common purchases include car repairs, class rings, graduation expenses, and uniforms or other equipment needed for work or school.
Eligibility criteria for the Need Based Fund are as follows:
· Youth who are/were emancipated, or “aged” out from the Nebraska foster care system,
· Youth currently in the system, ages 16 years up to 24 years old,
· Youth who were adopted, guardian shipped, or re-unified with biological parents after the age of 16
· Applicant must be: lacking a support system to adequately provide for their needs, struggling financially, unemployed or underemployed but actively searching for employment, or maintain full/part time at school, and have exhausted other resources
Up to $500 per year per applicant may be granted. There is an application and review process. To find out more, visit www.nebraskafosteryouth.org then click ‘resources’.
Enjoy your week!
