Hello, friends of Project Everlast!

As many of you know, the Nebraska Foster Youth Council grants funds each year to agencies who wish to provide opportunities for siblings who are separated by foster care or adoption to come together for fun activities.  This year, the NFYC awarded funds to the K.I.N.Ship Project, a project of Outward Bound Omaha.  Outward Bound is a program to help young people gain self-confidence, leadership skills, and build close, trusting relationships with each other in a fun environment.  Housed on the Omaha Home for Boys campus, it consists of a variety of activities for young people to choose from: facilitated fun team building activities, a high ropes course, camping, and much more.  Outward Bound is a national model staffed by trained professionals dedicated to ensuring a successful, fun experience for every participant.

Please consider referring young people in your programs to K.I.N.Ship.  As you know, youth often cite maintaining sibling bonds as a primary concern while in out of home care.  Our most recent survey of young people in care and alumni of foster care found that only 10% of respondents felt they had a close enough relationship with their siblings that they could call on them for advice or help.  K.I.N.Ship can help build sibling bonds that will last a lifetime, giving young people much needed support and permanence as they transition to adulthood.

This is a wonderful opportunity for youth to spend quality time with their siblings and to make memories that will be unlike any other.  To register, to ask questions, or to get more information, contact:

As we move into the season of giving, please know that I am thankful to have the opportunity to work with so many people who are committed to the success of youth.  Thank you for all you do for young people in foster care and alumni of the foster care system.
