Hi,
I am trying to install Chrono (GPU module). I keep getting this error :

[ 45%] Building NVCC (Device) object src/chrono_gpu/CMakeFiles/ChronoEngine_gpu.dir/cuda/ChronoEngine_gpu_generated_ChGpu_SMC_trimesh.cu.o
nvcc fatal   : Unsupported gpu architecture 'compute_89'

I am not sure why nvcc is looking for GPU architecture, as I am just building the projects, not running them. I am using CUDA/11.7.0
Would using CUDA 12 help?

Thank you,

Radu Serban

Hi Sarina,

You must have a relatively new GPU (Ada architecture) with compute capability 8.9. That is only supported by CUDA 11.8 and newer.

So yes, you should upgrade CUDA.
