Crash info and questions on features

I am experiencing frequent crashes (one in two or one in three) while attempting to explore alpha laos, and less frequent when exploring elsewhere. Not sure if there is a correlation between crashes and the specific system or if I just spent a long time there. Crashes have happened other times as well, windows says the program has stopped working, generally when I am exploring a planet.
My system: x64 win7, high res 1280x960 i think, whatever the highest is is what im using.
Questions on content: Is there in fact a way to add modules to your ship or to purchase melnorme upgrades that is currently implemented in the game? I have seen the to be continued after the mission, so I am concerned and unsure what to do in the game, as I have not found these features and am thus unable to build up my ship and fleet. In fact, my fleet can't be built up because the fuel to get a full load of high quality minerals is more expensive than the entire load.
Sorry if I am demanding more of an incomplete project than you have had the chance to do, but I am confused by the pages on the site which seem to specify many more items than are in the game; I expected those pages to be a wiki-like description of features, rather than an outline of future additions, because they are not phrased in future tenses.

I believe there will be much more than just that unwothry scout given to you by untruthful Chmmr.
Just wait for full version - resource issue won't be an issue in it, I suppose.

Thank you. I did not know if my copy was broken. The gameplay is amazing and challenging, and the fuel is not a terrible issue. I really appreciate the game!
