Climate change science and proposed local strategies
Are you concerned about climate change? Do you want to know what the City of Courtenay and individuals can do about it?
Please join us at this Open House to learn about and discuss how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Courtenay. We welcome your comments and ideas on the best ways to achieve our low-carbon community priorities.
The City is reviewing Courtenay’s Official Community Plan (OCP) to identify opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through:
• land use
• transportation
• energy efficient buildings
• environmentally sensitive
development practices
The Province has mandated that all B.C. communities must contain Greenhouse Gas reduction targets and policies in their Official Community Plans; this is referred to as Local Government (Green Communities) Statues Amendment Act, (Bill 27) 2008.
