I'd like to run some Voldemort performance testing, experimenting with
BDB config options (like je.log.bufferSize) that are not official
config options in Voldemort's server.properties. Is there an official
way to do this today?

I found two older posts on this topic:

http://osdir.com/ml/voldemort/2009-11/msg00063.html

http://groups.google.com/group/project-voldemort/browse_thread/thread/24389ddd5baff820/6ce1a17fa4b181ec?lnk=gst&q=internal+cache#6ce1a17fa4b181ec

One thread recommended putting a je.properties file in .../data/bdb.
The other suggested that putting the "je.*" settings right in
server.properties would be okay. The wording of the project
documentation (http://project-voldemort.com/configuration.php) is a
bit ambiguous on how to set config options listed in the table, saying
only "If BDB is used then all configuration is done through the
server.properties file."

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

To answer my own question: Putting a je.properties file in .../data/
bdb does the trick. Adjusting EnvironmentConfig settings (http://
download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17277_02/html/java/com/sleepycat/je/
EnvironmentConfig.html) in server.properties has no effect.

Travis,

What type of settings did you use? Esp. in regards to bdb fanout?

I would be curious to know what type of datasets / # of records / transaction rate you expect to run into.
