Where are we all at? Is it time to consider whether we can get back
into something? Or is it time to say adieu?

Forrestwolf, are you still alive and well? Still too busy with real
life?

Everyone chime in.

Cy -

I'm still doing all right - hope you are too. I AM still pretty busy
with real life, but I do have time to at least PLAY in a Thursday game
of some sort. Actually running our Maptools Alternity game would be
too much, though, I think.

I've actually been really enjoying a single-player NWN module -
Almraiven - very high quality stuff. So I'd be up for, as an example,
playing in a Thursday night NWN campaign if someone wants to run it.
My big concern would be not making it to every session if I were the
DM. Honestly, though, I find that NWN is still very much fun to play,
and the immersion is a significant advantage over Maptools.

What do you think? If we don't get the group together on Thursdays
with someone else running, I'll probably try to sign up for someone
else's game if there's something open.

Currently, we are interested in playing as well. Any night is acceptable, including the proposed Thursday night regular old vague schedule of whatever we come up with as Forrestwolf suggested… some sort of NWN game sounds decent…  I liked the old format of a DM-less game as well, if we can’t get a DM, like we experimented with last time.  I thought Dim-Hoppers worked out fairly well as a nice experiment from module to module.

If we wanted to pick up the experiment again…. :D

i'd be into playing :3 its wierd i was thinking about posting a thread
just like this today, anyway, as for the game of choise i would go
with NWN or something free everyone can get.

as for time im not QUITE sure, my parents have made my schedual really
hectic but i think thursdays at 9 was it? would work. i do miss the
thursday games they were always something different to do from my
usual things :)

Hey Stephanie, Wolfgang!  Good to hear from both of you.  Stephanie, are you saying Bob's up for it, too?

So we're narrowing in on Thursdays at 9 pm, NWN, likely non-FW-run.  I'm up for non-DM, BUT I find that a DM just adds SO much more.  The adventure we were doing just seemed to lack a lot without someone possessing NPC's and handing out RP experience (and fixing things up when they went wrong!).

Cy, what do you think?

We could go right back to that set of PC's if we wanted to, though I thought that particular adventure was getting WAY too hard.  There are other choices for multiplayer, no-DM modules that are more balanced and stable.

Server stability was also an issue for me.  Not sure if someone in the group would be willing to take the responsibility of setting up a server, or if I should get a more stable box to run it from.

on the subject of the DM question: i agree DM's make the games a lot
better, games without DM's are good (like in in one now while writeing
this) BUT, without a DM theres some things missing so i'll throw in a
idea that has poped into my head and see what you think:

we could (in a sence) take turns DMing scenarios, those of us who have
had experiance with the DM client (or those who are willing to learn
how to do it) could run 2-3 week scenearios, it would'nt be as 'epic'
as the game was when we had just one DM but, maybe it could be like a
story stick sometimes, a DM gets a story started, then hands it off to
the next DM, the DM from there can take the story however they want.

i know there would be problems with this like the fact that characters
would disapeer and reapeer at regular intervals...but this is just a
suggestion

Gulfwulf and I are planning to run a DMed campaign after my Friday
group finishes with SoU.
We're a small group of 4, but Gulfwulf and I are likely to DM whatever
we play next, and we'll need a few more players.
Here's the catch though, we play on Fridays, not Thursdays and I know
that at least one person in my group can't do Thursdays.
We normally play from 8:00pm to 10:00pm EST.

Ok. I am back from vacation and ready to get started on this. I
would like to play, but cannot run something (AT THIS TIME), though
perhaps down the road. Would love some NWN. Would do a group
exploration of a PW somewhere if it is full and rich and comes highly
recommended, or we can get someone to run one like Gulfwulf or someone.

Coolness. :)
Any ideas for a mod?

Traditional fantasy, horror, sci-fi, modern, or whatever else?

Anyways, I'm generally a bit lazy with the preparations so I like to
have full documentation to refer to.
I won't be able host though, I haven't been able to figure out how to
do that since my comp is connected to the net through a local network.

I'd generally be up for anything - there is NO requirement to do Modern in my opinion.

I guess we're looking for a good DM-ed module that can handle a single DM?

I can be the server, though my concern there is that if I miss a game, I'll need to make sure someone else covers, or that my server is very stable.  I've generally found that d20 Modern modules are NOT terribly stable.

Just to throw this out there - Purple, would you be able to DM alone on occasion if we generally went back to the good ol' superhero campaign?  That is, we'd continue where we left off, I'd write some adventures, and on occasion I'd need you to DM alone when I can't make it for a week.

Just a thought.  I must admit I've been itching to build for supers again, though I worry a lot about time commitment.

It really wasn't a Heroes campaign...similar in some ways, but not in others.

That said, I really like Purple's suggestion of the Mulu module!  I've got a cool character concept, though perhaps I should co-DM for her.  I'm probably more useful as a DM - having a ready-made module like Mulu's makes that much more realistic.

Participant list so far:
Purple (DM)
Forrestwolf (co-DM or player)
Jeff (player)
Bob (player)
Stephanie (player)
Cy (player)
Wolfgang? Let everyone know, but it'd be great! (player)
Nol Drek (unknown - he's likely just not reading this group)

That's almost everyone from before!  Who's up for a little phlogiston university work?

Actually, I wouldn't mind assisting as an assistant-DM, instead of

need training in DM'ing. I'd actually like the experience in DM'ing,

Stephanie - yes, we'll be playing Lantan University. We won't be
starting Oct 1st though. We might be starting the following week
(8th), but I don't know yet, it depends on everyone's schedule, and
also I have 2 assignments due around that time.

Cy - you might want to take a look at this mod to start with:

Once the players have their PC profiles written-up I'd like to discuss
story/session ideas with you, as the mod will require a bit of
planning ahead of time and we'll need to have enough to keep the group
busy from session to session.

Cheers,

No, we are not changing. I was just showing it.

What problems does NWN2 have? Especially online?

Only problems I knew of were original issues with the DM client which
have been resolved now, or so I thought. The only other issues I knew
of were difficulties with creating custom animations, which are now
resolved, and lack of premade custom content (of which this mod
appears, on its surface at least, to go a long way to resolving).

Anyway, I just thought this was a very cool link "with possibilities
for the future". I would seriously like to know if there are still
existing problems with the DM client or otherwise.

If its NWN2 that's a problem for me. I have to upgrade my video card to
drive it, and money's tight atm. I've been unemployed all year. Count me
tentative - I'm out unless I can pull it off by start-date.

Bob,

It's not NWN2. Sorry if my post was in the wrong thread here and may
have caused some confusion. I just thought it was a cool looking mod
coming up, so I posted about it to share. I didn't think about the
thread I was posting in, though if I had, I still may have posted it
here because I wanted to share it with everyone that has been reading
and posting in this thread.

I'm sorry to say that I will not be able to play in the new campaign
because of my work schedule. Maybe things will change in January. Go
ahead and look for someone else to join you.

Nice to hear from you Nol, I hope things are well. :)

*****
We won't be able to begin on the 8th unfortunately. I have an
assignment due, and I need to take my cat to the vets for a follow-up
(she had a sort of seizure last week while I was at uni so my parents
took her to the vet).

We should be able to start on the 15th, I'm hoping we can anyway.

I'm going to begin the mod by just following the set starting plot, as
that will give everyone some time to get the feel for the setting.
It'll also give me an indication as to whether everyone is enjoying
the mod, or if we find it doesn't suit everyone's taste and we need to
try something else.

I'd still like you to write some character profiles, they don't need
to be long.
I'll post the hak list and intro in another thread.

Ah, somethings come up so we probably won't be able to start on the
15th, as I will likely be attending a recruitment session for some
work I'm interested in.
Depending on whether I get in or not might mean I won't be able to run
this campaign, on Thursdays at least.

I'll let you know, but I attended one of these sessions earlier in the
year and didn't get in, so I'm hoping to get in this time now that
they're recruiting again.

Whew! We're going to have to start a new thread eventually.

Nol - Sorry to hear that - but January isn't so far away, so stop by
anytime you can join back in.

Purple - hope your cat is all right - if it turns out you can't run
the games, I've gotten energized enough by all this discussion to be
up for DMing something pre-made. So let me know how it turns out with
all the job stuff.

Bob and Cy - I totally agree - no NWN 2 at this point. I'm actually
not sure the DM interface IS yet up to par, and making new material is
very time consuming - which makes it tough for a weekly campaign. And
I'd need a new computer too!

Bottom line - we ARE going to do a Thursday game. Just need to figure
out which weekend Purple can start, or if she'd rather I run.

It's been an odd couple of weeks and I apologize for the confusion.

My cat is alright, the blood results came in and they were fine,
though I still have to take her to the vets this Thurs. She might have
epilepsy, so she's on anti-convulsive pills for the moment, though the
vet said we can down the dosage and eventually take her off them as it
may have been a once off.

With the campaign I think I might have to wait for a few weeks and see
if I get in or not (and which shift I could get if I get in). If I
don't get in, or my shift still leaves room for me to attend, I could
still DM or co-DM. I guess it depends how soon you want to start.

Hey guys,

It's going to take a few weeks before I find out if my application was
successful or not, and supposing I do get in, orientation and training
doesn't begin until some time in November anyway.

How about we go ahead and play something in the meantime?
I'm still up for running Lantan Uni if you're still interested.

I'm absolutely up for it. I have really decided that I can't DM for
now, so having you run even for a few weeks would be great.

We could begin this week as long as everyone has enough time to
download all the haks, and has time to play.
I won't be making any changes to the mod, I think I'd rather just wing
it to start off.

What time slot do you guys have planned? I need to convert it to my
timezone so I know when to turn up.

est.

So, that thing I applied for - I got in! :D

Cool, cool ,cool.
Anyways, I won't find out my exact schedule until after orientation
and training - so, if my shift does fall on this group's session time,
would it be possible to change the session to a different day? I put
down weekend days as my preference, so it might not be an issue
anyway, but just in case.

Congratulations, Purple!

As for scheduling, I could theoretically do Tuesday or Wednesday.  Other days besides Thursday are basically unworkable.
