In Karnataka, we work with government school teachers, and for
few years now we have been emphasising to teachers that the
Government has focused on supplying computers to schools for
students but ignored teachers. Teachers need to buy their own
personal computers from their own funds (like they have done for
mobiles etc), since it will help them greatly in their
development. of course I do think education departments are
foolish to supply laptops to students (like few Indian state
govt have done), while ignoring teachers and I would like to
share what Prof MM Pant (retd Pro VC IGNOU) says - we need to
have a 'no teacher left behind' policy to ensure they are all
integrated into the digital world. However, instead of waiting
for that, teachers should simply buy their devices... and for
govt school teachers, this may not be a very difficult
proposition!!"
End posting.
Hope all teachers in Karnataka will acquire their personal
devices to participate in the digital world/ 'information
society' and broaden and deepen their own professional
capacities and capabilities!!
regards,
Guru
