Job Roles / Responsibilities:
The Integration Competency Center is looking for a Java developer participate in our modernization efforts of our Enterprise Service Bus platforms that currently support many applications across each of the business units. This position is responsible for execution and delivery of enterprise components and applications in support of business initiatives. This position requires strong knowledge of Java along with modern deployment models such as containerization. It also requires a self-starter and a team player with a strong technical foundation in application development.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Partner closely with the lead the modernization of ICC’s Enterprise Service Bus platforms.
• Work closely with enterprise architecture and other IT organizations during conceptual and high level design for integration solutions.
• Develop enterprise integration solutions utilizing Java with Eclipse and/or Rational Application Developer to be deployed on-premise or in the cloud based on business need.
• Design and implement Microservices and API’s based on business initiatives.
• Prepare detailed design documentation for those services on assigned projects.
• Partner and work with development application teams providing technical consultation on enterprise components and applications as part of strategic business projects.
• Learn new technologies and mentor and teach other team members to become proficient.
• Test and optimize solutions.
• Estimate scope and effort accurately.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate systems documentation.
• Provide timely and accurate reporting of progress, status, and issues.
Recommended Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Proactive self-starter who demonstrates a high level of productivity.
• 8+ years application development experience implementing Java/JEE solutions
• Experience with one or more is required:
o Eclipse
o Spring/SpringBoot
o Rational Application Developer
o WebSphere Application Server
o Tomcat
o Docker
• Experience in designing and implementing REST services and API’s.
• Experience working with Web services and MQ/JMS-based services is required.
• Knowledge of Microservices, SOA, and modernization of legacy systems.
• Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of relational database technologies and usage within Java applications.
• Insurance industry experience is a plus.
• Experience with any of the following is a plus:
o JUnit or other unit testing frameworks
o JPA or other object-relational technologies
o Code coverage frameworks
o Build Forge/Jenkins for application deployment
o DevOps
o Application monitoring via App Dynamics or Wily Introscope
o Kafka and message streams
