Cloud Security Engineer

Charlotte, NC 

Contract Type: Hybrid (Onsite for 2 days)

 

 

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for overseeing and managing the design and implementation of cloud security solutions. The Cloud Security Engineer is responsible for providing 2nd and 3rd level support for all cloud security issues or outages.

 

Job Responsibilities

Perform technical security configuration assessments of a client's cloud platforms - such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Perform technical security configuration reviews for common cloud-based SaaS platforms.

Optimized cloud solutions that deliver enterprise-grade security, compliance, and responsiveness to the latest cloud-based threats and attacks.

Demonstrate a deep understanding of cloud computing concepts and how security controls are applied to those cloud-based technologies. Example cloud security concepts include, but are not limited to:

Architecture & Networking

Identity & Access Management

Securing the CI/CD Pipeline

Secrets and Data Protection

Logging, Detection, and Response

Security Controls for Containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

Practical experience with Kubernetes and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform).

Monitor Azure and AWS cloud services, triage security events and mitigate risks.

Manage security operations and monitor security posture of Azure, AWS, and GCP.

Assist with defining and developing appropriate governance for a cloud strategy.

Provisioning and automating cloud services.

Automate and orchestrate cloud security operations workflows.

Provide guidance on the management of cloud deployments, monitoring and oversight, and operational guidelines over AWS and Azure.

Implement and/or assess existing cloud security controls.

Develops and expands technical knowledge and capability to communicate and explain complex technical topics to less-experienced team members.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, CIS/MIS or IT related field or equivalent experience in the field.

Minimum of 5 years in IT (minimum of 3 years in information security).

Strong business partner focus - able to meet the demands of internal and external customers

Proficient in designing, implementation and maintaining network security controls. Excellent understanding of security and privacy.

Experience with PCI DSS, NIST and CIS especially as it relates to maintaining them or their implementation.

Experience running Cloud services with a combination of onsite and on cloud hosting provider experience (AWS or Azure).

Strong understanding across Cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end to end Cloud Infrastructure architectures and designs.

Understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging trends.

Experience in assessing and monitoring cloud infrastructure from a security perspective and developing security controls to address findings.

Ability to provide guidance for cloud-specific remediation recommendations for organizations responding to cloud-related incidents.

Understanding and implementation of industry-leading practices around cyber risks and Cloud security for clients' cloud security frameworks using industry standards such as CIS Benchmarks, Cloud Security Alliance, and NIST SP 800-144, 800-145, and 800-322.

Demonstrated ability to be hands on and close to AWS and/or Azure cloud technology.

At least a minimal understanding of a programming or scripting language and strong knowledge of scripting, programming, or application programming interface (API) interaction.

Must understand governance and convey governance principles to cloud computing in terms of policies.

Experience with Cyber Incident Response within cloud environments and applications.

Security certifications preferred (CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, GIAC GCSA, CISA, CISM, etc.)
