Job Title: Machine Learning Data Engineer
Location: Altanta, GA
Job Description:
This person will be responsible for developing and facilitating data requirements and needs
identified by the Client for machine learning applications.
End Client has many clients in a variety of industries. When a business problem is
presented and identified by the Algorithmic Sciences team, a long process of data consulting
and engineering with the client must be carried out to:
1. Validate the business problem (does their data support the claim that a problem exists)
2. Determine relevant data and an appropriate ETL process
3. Engineer basic features amenable to the class of algorithms identified to be a fit for the
problem.
This person will be heavily involved in this process, working in the Algorithmic Sciences team.
Required Experience :
● Has been exposed and/or performed machine learning techniques and done data
engineering in a machine learning context , where the output of an ETL process or
data pipeline are features and labels for supervised machine learning algorithms. ETL
processes for machine learning applications often include complex joins across many
tables and aggregations that must be flexibly designed in case modeling is changed.
● Ideally, has some exposure to applying machine learning models even if at a basic level
such as with out-of-the-box models from sklearn, keras etc. Understands the basic
assumptions behind common modeling techniques such as logistic regression, random
forests, gradient boosting.
Core skills:
● Experience with enterprise database systems: Hadoop, Hive, SQL, Mongo/NoSQL,
Teradata
● Experience with ETL tools such as Spark, Talend, NiFi, Apache Beam
● At least basic programming experience in a mainstream language, preferably: Python
● Basic machine learning knowledge/understanding. Experience with regression and
classification techniques.
● Good communication skills, detail oriented
The common question that gets asked in business is, 'why?' That's a good question, but an equally valid question is, 'why not?'
