Has anyone tested support for Eclipse Neon? It was released about a week ago so I'll probably want to upgrade before too long.

I’m using Lombok with Eclipse Neon and have no issues over the last week.  I use it both on Mac and Ubuntu.

Thanks,
Ronnie

I am trying to make Eclipse Neon work with the latest lombok version (1.16.9 snapshot) and if i let lombok run as a java applicatrion inside eclipse i can not select the eclipse neon directory to install lombok there... ("I can't find any IDE that lombok supports at location: ...)

i try to make it run with pc and windows...

update for that is not out yet?

Neon on Windows x64 with jdk1.8.0_60, 1.16.4 works fine here.

I've confirmed it seems to work with Neon. I haven't had any issues with it.

I am fairly new to Lombok and integration with Eclipse.

I have downloaded Lombok 1.16.10 and have executed the installation into Eclipse Neon by double clicking on the Lombok.jar.

It has installed the jar into the Eclipse directory, and updated the eclipse.ini file appropriately.

I then restarted Eclipse, ran a clean etc and all builds fine with Maven.

The problem is that Eclipse is still showing errors where it cannot see the getters and setters when they are called within other classes. I just see the error:

"The method methodname is undefined for the type type"

Is this expected behaviour within the Eclipse IDE because it is very annoying. If this is how things are supposed to work I will probably remove all lombok support from the project.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

no it is supposed to behave as if the methods really exist, they should even be in the overview view.

If you used "restart" from inside eclipse, modifications to the ini file are not picked up. You need to stop eclipse and start it again.

If you use a shortcut on Windows, try starting the exe directly.

You can verify if lombok is active by opening the about eclipse dialog. On the bottom of the white text region there should be a line about Lombok.

Excellent.

Yes I did just use restart from within Eclipse to restart.

I just closed it down and ran from the original (non shortcut) icon and ran a clean and all is working again.

Many thanks for your help!!!

Leon.

Oh man thank you very much!

I never imagined the shortcut would be a problem, but it was! Just started Eclipse from the executable in the command line, did a Project -> Clean and everything worked.

Thank you very much!

Hi,
sorry for resuming this post but it can't make it work on Ubuntu 64 bit.The strange thing is that it nicely completes the annotated methods (eg @Getter) but then it can't seem to find the generated method.
Tried starting directly from the installation path rather than using the launcher but had no luck.

Any idea ?
TIA

I just installed NEON and downloaded the latest LOMBOK jar and attached it to ECLIPSE.

I had to upgrade Eclipse because the old one wouldn't do refactoring without errors.  This one is better.

But now Lombok doesn't work.

when I look at the ABOUT menu, it says LOMBOK is active.

but I still get errors for all references to setX() and get/isX()...thousands of them.

is there something I'm doing wrong?  Or is there an incompatibility between

Eclipse Neon.2 Release 4.6.2 and Lombok v.1.16.12 "Candid Duck"?

Same situation here.  I'm using Neon.2 and the latest Lombok (1.16.12) and while
the "About" panel shows Lombok as active, it does not actually work.

Any suggestions?

If you start eclipse without lombok (such that it builds projects) where some of the sources in your tree require lombok, then you install lombok and then you stop eclipse (or in reverse order), then start eclipse again, you'll.. still have the errors.

Eclipse doesn't sniff out that it needs to recompile. The solution is to pick 'clean...' from the project menu and clean all (relevant) projects.

We'll update the installer text to be more clear on this issue; Roel already updated the text to mention shutting eclipse down and starting it again (vs. the wording 'restart', which was used prior to 1.16.14).

I tried every permutation of cleaning, building, restarting, etc. that
I could think of and never did get it to work. Then I installed the
Oxygen M4 release, added Lombok, loaded my project in there and it all
Just Worked. From my perspective, it looks like there might actually
be a bug that affects Neon.2 specifically. Or maybe it was just some
random transient glitch, who knows? But for now, as long as Oxygen
works, I have a usable environment, so I'm happy. :-)
