lipsync installs with no errors, but returns no pid and fails to run daemon

I started out with the same version issue with lsyncd that Robert
Susmilch had previously. Thanks to his note I figured out I needed to
dl and compile lsyncd. That seemed to make things work, and it appears
that one rsync process fires off but no daemon is running after the
install. The lipsyncd.pid file is empty so apparently something is not
starting properly.

I've slowly been chugging through the files to see what each does and
try to debug, but it's rather slow going. Any tips as to where I
should be looking?

Below are the contents of my lipsyncd.log and lipsyncd.pid files:

jal@jal:~/.lipsyncd$ cat lipsyncd.log

I would rerun lipsync, but check the conf and add the debug flag. Also
you should probably pull fresh from github, I made some changes to
simplify things that were in the original that never panned out (I
want to get a base 'right' first - add more features later). Also, the
new version has an uninstall.sh that should get the game back to the
beginning.

Bah, disregard earlier comment, pretty sure I have this fixed now:
https://github.com/philcryer/lipsync/commit/72b66341b84b3a7cb7575fd1fa09f58137caad45

Now I need to figure out if I still need that ~/.lipsyncd.pid file...
will look at that, this may fix the way my init.d fails.
