This is a very interesting project and I enjoyed reading the architect's notes.

I have a few ideas in regards of tower infrastruture. I think there should be alternatives to Elevator transport for some things.

Number one is garbage chutes. This would increase the construction cost and restrict placement of garbage rooms (verticaly on top of each other, like an elevator) but could transport garbage directly down to a garbage or recycling room so no one has to go empty the garbage rooms on the floors.

Number two is another chute. The Laundry Chute for Hotel floors and maybe even residential areas. Same idea, just a laundry service at the bottom. Collection of the clean clothes could be done by the residents in case of a laundry service for apartments. Hotel landry would of cause be collected by the cleaning personal. (Just had another idea. Hotel could have closets on the floors to store clean towels and bedcloth)

Number three: A chute again. Mail chute this time. Useful for offices without mail service on the same floor.

All the chutes have one problem: It would increase fire spread between floors. There might be a technical solution to this that the player can (or later must for regulation reasons) install into the chutes.

PS: What is planed about catastrophes like fire and can some be combated with automated systems like sprinkler systems?

Number four is improbable, but I would love a Pneumatic Tube Transport system to transport mail and small objects to and from offices. I know, no one uses those anymore, but I think they would be fun. :-D

These are my ideas regarding Tower infrastucture for now.

Keep up the good work, and I look forward to your comments. :-D

Interesting ideas. We've got a concept of garbage bins on each floor. My concern in the design space is that they would be a little too restrictive for tower builders. But we'll be considering some things for more smaller systems.

It might be an interesting restriction for a scenario or two if the building has a central core that has garbage chutes and the like. Garbage chutes and the like work well for smaller high rises, but once you get to the level of 30 or 40 stories, maybe not so much, right?

Found some intressting things today.

Here is an article about Garbage Chute Maintanence and dangers of misused or unmaintained chutes: http://www.habitatmag.com/Publication-Content/Building-Operations/2015/2015-June/Maintaining-the-Garbage-Chute

Linked in it is a section of the Rules of the City of New York (R.C.N.Y.) regarding the construction of garbage chutes: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/downloads/rules/1_RCNY_24-01.pdf

If I understand that text (Section d) correctly a class A multiple dwelling higher that four stories that uses trash collection / compaction (possible room upgrade?) rooms needs a garbage chute system. It seems the usefullness of a chute rises with building height. So the higher the building, the more you need a garbage transport method that does not need manual labor.

But I might have read that wrong. I don't speek lawyer...

PS: What about heating / AC service? Might be useful in a building...

PPS: The other rules of new york might be intressting to read too. I found Chapters about elevators, escalators, piping, smoke detectors, sprinklers, cranes ....

A/C and heating service would be great to have, especially if Project Highrise is gonna have seasons... summer would require A/C and winter would require heating. maintain them to avoid them breaking down in the middle of the season they're needed in.
