Dear all

The saying is quite true for our case.  This is indeed a very sweet victory after a long trial, above all realisation of a dream of getting a paper in IEEE Transaction-  top among Engineering communities.  I am soooooooooo happy to share my experience

When I started my research way back in 2012, as that of every young researcher, I do dreamt about  getting the research work being published in a reputed journal.  But then I have no clue about how to proceed with quality work and its reporting.  I am greatly indebted to my mentor  for all the good values he inculcated to me on these research days. The first streamlining of research happened after a major research discussion on 22/12/2012.  Achu sir gave an idea about how to proceed with the research activities and advised me to keep a mind map. The following mind map was an integral part for my research. That always reminded me about the focus and the outcomes of my research.  Let me tell you, the potential of Mind mapping is the first thing I learnt from my Mentor.

Second thing, I have learnt is on Technical writing. Writing complement the research a lot. I have exchanged countless draft with my mentor. When I started off the paper writing, I was never confident ! Approximately 20  versions we had to come across before submission our first draft on July 2015 to IEEE. I have all the hard copies of the different versions . It was quite amazing to see the transformation of paper from a 1 page draft to a full paper!

It was Achu sir, who kindled me the interest to compile a benchmark dataset for testing the performance of compression tools. Constant discussion and draft exchange is the mantra behind our success . No , matter what happens we never lost track in our discussion.
As most of you are aware, since 2014 there were many health related issues in my family and I have personal loss too! JESUS,was always the strength for me to stand !
Trillion thanks to god almighty for his divine guidance through out these days!
I can never forget the kind support and encouragement from my beloved teacher, Achu sir----Whose passion and dedication towards teaching is far beyond words ! His painstaking attention to all the major and  minor details of the paper helped to improve its quality.

During  October 2015, we received the first major revision. Nearly 5  more different draft we exchanged for the major revision . With lot of happiness and effort uploaded the paper back . But during November 2015 we were very cruelly been rejected  based on a single reviewer comments.

Forget
to mention, in between we came across a strange case of reviewer Plagiarism  too! This was also reported with Achu sir's intervention

But then Achu sir fighted very hardly  with the chief editor  and whole chapter reopened for yet another submission. We got three more months  for doing the next major revision, This time the response of reviewer were so critical and I have lost my confidence!  After doing  preliminary works, we consulted with Kalyanaraman sir (Retd  statistical professor, kerala university )  and he firmly suggested a few improvements. This timely help gave lot of hope for us and  during April 2016 we were able to address all their comments and submitted back the revised paper.

On May 2016, we received  a minor revision (typo's need to be corrected), we then had a first hope that we were almost near to publication and finally on MAY 6th the long waited news reached my ears that OUR PAPER IS ACCEPTED by IEEE. I do not know how to express my joy, right now! It's true we are literally showered :-)))))))))

Thank you my dear DCB-ians for all the  Kind support. I especially would like to thank Navya, Silpa, Deepthi, Shidi, Sunitha, Renganayaki , Priya das & Vineetha for all their support at various level of my research!

PS: I would like to thank Jasmine Russel, Manu, Jithin, Arya, Neenu and Shima for all the technical support ! Jasmine, it was you gave me a first level information about different organisms and their kingdom. Thank you for that :-))

Playing with 1000's of data is never easy. Initially Manu, then Jithin then Arya & Neenu finally Shima supported me with the painstaking tabulation and its proof reading ! Thank you for all the valuable support :-))

Dear All
I am so pleased and proud to announce a rare achievement - the first
paper from DCB in IEEE Transactions - from Biji -- after a long winded
fight with the editors. It is the top-most journal in Engineering and
we had many times failed to get a paper through.
I feel very excited.
Hearty congrats to Biji

RE: TCBB-2015-07-0312.R3, “Benchmark dataset for Whole Genome sequence
compression”
Manuscript Type: Regular Paper

06-May-2016

Dear Ms. C.L.,

Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that your paper has been
accepted with no further changes as a regular paper in an upcoming
issue of the IEEE IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and
Bioinformatics.

Please submit all final files through the Awaiting Final Files queue
in your Author Center on ScholarOne Manuscripts. Please upload all
files in a single session, and make sure your final package is correct
and complete upon submission. Once you have completed the submission
of your final files you will not be able to make any changes until you
have received the page proofs from IEEE.  A detailed list of the
required files is below.

Please be advised that this journal follows a preprint model.  This
means that the current accepted version we have on file will be
downloaded from ScholarOne Manuscripts and will post to IEEE Xplore
5-7 days from when we receive your final materials.  Preprint versions
are fully citable, and no changes can be made to the accepted version
at this time.  Any typographical errors can be addressed with the
production editor during the proof stage, and your copy-edited version
will replace the preprint version online when you have finalized the
proofs.  In addition, the source files requested below must match the
accepted PDF we have on file. Any subsequent PDF files will not be
used for production.

If for any reason you would prefer not to have your paper posted as a
preprint, please email jar...@computer.org prior to submitting your
final materials through ScholarOne Manuscripts; otherwise, not
responding indicates your acceptance of our policy.

By submitting your final files through ScholarOne Manuscripts, you are
acknowledging and agreeing to any applicable page charges this paper
may incur. Overlength page charges are mandatory and are not
negotiable. If you have any questions about these charges, please
contact jar...@computer.org prior to submitting your files.

The final items required for publication are:

1) A Latex or Microsoft Word application file. This should include
keywords/index terms, and bios and photos if you are including them.
The contents of this file should match the accepted PDF.  Failure to
submit a source file may result in publishing delays.

2) If your figures are not embedded in the source file of your
manuscript, you will also need to upload separate figure files. The
acceptable formats are Word, eps, ps, tiff, ppt, pdf and excel. We do
NOT accept png or jpeg files for figures.

Please also identify a teaser image from your manuscript or a small
custom image that relates to your paper that may be used in the
abstract book as part of the OnlinePlus program and upload it as a
separate file labeled: Teaser Image.  Note that failure to include
this information will cause delay in posting/processing your
manuscript for publication.

NOTE: If you intend to use an image that you didn't create (that is,
it originally appeared elsewhere or someone else created it), you will
need to provide permission that you're authorized to use that image to
the production editor assigned to work with you on your article.
3) Biosketches and photos of all authors.  Biosketches should be
uploaded at the same time as the other final files, if you plan to
include them. These can be included at the end of your Microsoft Word
or Latex source file, or submitted as a separate upload. For author
photos jpeg files are accepted.

NOTE: If one of your authors does not want a photo published, please
upload a document explaining this to avoid publication delays with
your article.

*Please make sure that all files have unique file names in order for
them to export successfully to IEEE IEEE/ACM Transactions on
Computational Biology and Bioinformatics.

Additional information (including our strict size limitation for all
accepted articles) can be found by visiting:
http://www.computer.org/portal/web/peerreviewjournals/author#final.

Thank you for your contribution to IEEE/ACM Transactions on
Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. We look forward to seeing
your final files soon.

Best wishes,
Joyce Arnold, on behalf of
