Universal Extractor is a powerful and well-known tool to extract files from hundreds of different archive types, installers or otherwise compressed files. It has been created and maintained by Jared Breland until he set it on hiatus after the release of version 1.6.1. Currently, there are several slightly updated modifications floating around, which consist mainly of helper binary updates. Additionally, some improved versions with auto-updaters, more supported file types and GUI redesigns exist. Sadly, these are scattered around the internet and no central and easy download packages are available. As a user you would have to search through many forums in a wide variety of languages to even find a link to the program.

Universal Extractor 2 is the most advanced inofficial modification around, aiming at the inclusion of many wanted features, improvement of current ones, ongoing support and a central open-source distribution. UniExtract 2 started as a simple modification disabling the always-on-top status box and ended with the addition of dozens of extractors to expand the range of supported file types. New - and unique amongst the available modifications - features like a scan-only mode to identify unknown file types using multiple scanning applications, the batch mode or the extraction of audio and video tracks from multimedia files make it stand out against these.

This 1/4" universal non-heated jet tip (11008) has a large orifice to allow the free flowing of solution. It comes standard on the 12" adjusting glide wand that comes with the CleanFreak 120 PSI non-heated carpet cleaning extractor. Only one jet tip is needed with that wand. We do a carry a more restricted tip (11002), which is for use with heated machines.

For more replacment parts, please feel free to take a look at our full line of carpet cleaning wand parts.

Under Windows there is the Universal Extractor, I am looking like something like that for Mac. I don't know if there is a universal solution to this problem or if I would need a extractor specific to the type of installer. In my case I am actually trying to get the installer from Gog.com to extract so I can use them with Boxer.

Another tip is that sometimes installers will contain additional installers and you may need to repeat the 7zip extraction command (7z x foo.exe) on some .exe files you find the first time you extract.

The unique design of each extractor remote racking system with its specially manufactured drive shafts and couplings enable it to accommodate numerous types of circuit breakers or mcc buckets which do not use a jack screw rotary mechanism for insertion and extraction.

The unique design of the CBS ArcSafe universal remote racking system with its specially manufactured drive shafts and couplings enable the system to be used with different types of circuit breakers produced by the major switchgear manufacturers. It can be used with drawout types of air, SF6, and vacuum circuit breakers that have either a horizontal or vertical racking operation.

Universal Extractor is a program do to exactly what it says: extract files from any type of archive, whether it's a simple zip file, an installation program, or even a Windows Installer (.msi) package.

The file in this archive is a passworded 7zip SFX and an NFO file that looks very much like those of warez groups. This release is fake.

Current official version is still 1.6.1, and it still works on almost everything I throw at it. I'd recommend downloading a newer innounp.exe and throwing it in the bin folder (the Inno Setup unpacker in 1.6 is outdated), but other than that, keep using 1.6.

Winrar has nothing on this. I use it for extracting installers to a portable location of my choice. Some are locked and some are passworded and others just don't extract well and have to be installed, copied, and then uninstalled.
Take the siw setup a few links above this and use ue to grab the app folder.
Why some stuff even has an installer I don't know.
Portable too go figure.

@felixml: are you mad or something?
the developer said it is not intended to replace extractor. it contains numberous of small extension-based extractors to extract.

it was still smart and wise. great soft.

Mandatory program on my computer, along with 7zip (see horsecharles'review below why).
While 7zip simply extracts the content of the installer (if possible), the Universal Extractor seems to sanbox the installer run and get the files inside. I'm using 7zip as first choice or Universal Installer if the first don't work.

What I would like to see is a cascading context menu option, putting 3+ new items on explorer's right click is not the best approach.
