one of the the things I liked about the glory days of progressive rock
radio was the variety of music played: rock, folk, jazz, fusion,
reggae, soul, and blues were all put into the mix by the
freeform/progressive djs.

here's a few more artists and songs that I heard on the FM radio back
then:

CIRCUS MAXIMUS: the wind (this long, dreamy song from 1967 is one of
the early classics of underground radio)

FLASH : small beginnings

MICHAEL MURPHY: carolina in the pines

LES DUDEK: city magic

HOT TUNA: keep on truckin'

CRAWLER: stone cold sober

GENTLE GIANT

NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE: Panama Red, glendale train, up against
the wall redneck mother

JESSE WINCHESTER: twigs and seeds

JESSE COLIN YOUNG: ridgetop, T-bone shuffle, sunlight, before you came

EARTHQUAKE: friday on my mind

FABUOLUS POODLES: roll your own

WEATHER EPORT: birdland

JOHN PRINE: illegal smile, sam stone

DAVID SANBORN: promise me the moon

OSIBISA

ARGENT: the coming of Kohotek, liar

BLOODROCK: DOA (this is another song that was a staple of progressive
radio in the old days. Everyone who's heard it remembers it. anther
one of their songs, "kool aid kids" got airplay back then, too)

DIXIE DREGS: cruise control

HAWKWIND

CARAVAN

ALEX HARVEY BAND

KENNY RANKIN

HEAD: (this band wrote the long, trippy instrumental song "cannibus
sativa', which was used as background music on the legendary "Beaker
Street" radioshow hosted by dj Clyde Clifford)

CHARLIE: she loves to be in love

IF: waterfall

AL KOOPER: I stand alone

MCKENDREE SPRING

RONNIE MONTROSE: town without pity

ANDY PRATT: avenging annie

THE STRAWBS: autumn, lay down

TOMITA: arabesque number 1

ALIOTA, HAYNES & JEREMIAH: Lake Shore Drive

BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST: hymn

CAMEL :lady fantasy

THE BUTTS BAND: be with me (this band featured 2 former members of the
Doors)

GUN: race with the devil

plus there was always comedy album bits from acts such as "the Firesign
Theater', "Conception Corporation", Martin Mull, Albert Brooks, and
more.
