The 'Supporting a Progressive Bishops' Google Group brings together those who share a commitment to seeing the School thrive as a positive force in South African society.

While we are a diverse group with varied backgrounds and worldviews, we believe in the School's mission to inspire individuals, which requires embracing diversity, respect for difference, and fostering equity of opportunity. We recognise that Bishops exists within the broader context of South African society and has an obligation to be a positive force for social development through the actions of its students, staff, parents, and alumni.

This group emerged out of concerns about the ongoing and successful mobilisation of right-wing Bishops alumni, which has resulted in regressive and malicious agendas being pursued by some members of the current ODU Committee and various aligned ODs in their individual capacities. Our sense is that there is a broad array of people connected to Bishops who - despite being highly heterogeneous in their ideological positions and worldviews - would not support the agendas currently being pursued. This group is intended to provide a space for such progressively-minded individuals to communicate, stay informed, and keep updated on the affairs of the School.
